Hello everyone,

Okay so we need some help, here is a little background of our situation.  We applied for a K-1 visa in May and finally received the approval to schedule the interview in late December.  She had to get a new passport because her's was expiring soon plus with the holiday we scheduled the interview for march 27th.  She did her medical today and found out that she needs to have a  Sputum test done for 3 consecutive days and that she won;t get the results for 2 months.  My question is won't our documents expire?  I thought that I read somewhere that the K-1 visa documents are only good for 1 year and that if you have not had your interview by then you have to start the process all over again.  Is that true?

Sincerely,

Brian & Richelle

I'm not sure if there are any particulars to the Manila Embassy, but generally speaking you have two options: one is to go ahead with the interview, even knowing the medical isn't ready yet - all else going smoothly you will denied until you can provide the medical and the visa will be issued once that happens: the other option is to contact the embassy and ask for an extension so that you can do the interview once the medical is completed. Remember that your documents are valid from the date of approval, not from when you first filed, so you're counting from the December date, not the May one. :)

There is a validity date on the second Notice of Action letter you received.

Also, take note of the validity of her NBI clearance.

I agree with SparklePony, she can do her interview as scheduled and just follow-up with the results of her medical exam.

-=ROC & Naturalization Timeline=-

January 25, 2021 - ROC application received

January 22, 2022 - Case transferred

January 16, 2022 - Naturalization application received

April 7, 2023 - ROC and Naturalization Interview

April 20, 2023 - Oath Ceremony scheduled
