sending i-765 after i-485 is already sent?

Hi all! So, my husband and I sent I-485 without adding the I-765(work permit) last Feb. 21 since he figured that we can just wait for the green card and then apply after. But then, there might be a job opening on his work so now we're curious as to how to ask for a work permit now that we've already sent the I-485?

Send the application and required documents with a copy of the 485 NOA as there is no charge for

a 765 for a pendinf AOS.

Greencards can take up to around a year, so always best to file the 765 and 131 (travel) in the interim since they are no cost :-)

No.  Just a copy of the NOA1 from the 485 to show them you already paid that fee :-)

It says about 90 days, though it's been taking about 100-120 lately.

I filed on 16 November and only got approved on 24 February.

You can put in a request for expedition but needs to have compelling reason and that's not a guarantee either.

But we paid the exact amount though? $1225 for I-485 and biometrics

I had to re-submit the I-765 because it was wrongly rejected because "fees not paid". I had originally sent it alongside my I-485, so that really should not have been the case, but nonetheless I sent it off again with my I-485 NOA and cover letter. Because of this I've had to have two separate biometrics appointments.
