I am Canadian working in the US (4th year) on a TN Visa.  However prior to expiry, I married a US Citizen.  Now I am researching on what I should do next...AOS is what I am doing.  Since my TN Visa expired, my state driver's license have expired.  Lucky for me I work close to work and have been getting a ride from my wife and colleagues.  The issue is this.  My Canadian passport will expire in June, 2017.  I noticed some of the requirements of the AOS packet requires a photocopy of my passport.  I obviously do not want to travel and planned on getting it renewed via mail.  Should I give a copy of my old passport and wait for my change of status and renew my passport in May or should I renew the passport now so they have a current copy of a valid passport.  Does it matter?  My goal is to get my temporary residence card so I can update my driver's license as soon as possible.  Thank you.

Side note:  Glad I found this forum but it is a little overwhelming.  I hope I can get some clarity on what I should do and hopefully keep you all updated on my progress for future posters who are in the same position as me.

Hi.  I'm actually still working, although I was planning on quitting during this AOS process.  My contract was extended again and have been so for for the past 2 + years.  However from my research as long as I am straight forward and tell them I am working being a spouse/immediate family (working) will not hurt the application.

Any incite about working with expired TN? or about my passport.  Some have said, send the old copy and renew when I need to and make sure I have valid when I do the interview.

Thank you.
