Hi! I would like for my parents, that are in the Philippines, to visit us in the US. I have read somewhere that although an affidavit of support is not necessary, it could help in the application. I will be paying for their plane tickets and all necessary expenses suring their stay here. My question is, did anyone on here do the same thing? I know that getting them approved depends on the proof of their strong ties to the Philippines, but I'm wondering how much of a bearing is the affidavit for the visa application/approval, if any? Thank you!

No, you cannot sponsor a tourist visa. They must show their ties to return back home by themselves. Providing any letter of support shows ties to the US, not to leave it.

that was misinformation given, there is no such thing as an affidavit of support for a tourist visa.

 

they must qualify on their own, showing strong ties to their country. that they won't overstay because they have a child here

Wherever you read AOS could be helpful, does that source have odds of B2 success?
