I received the mail from the NVC with my case number.

1. Is there a way I can check the case status online like when it was at USCIS or is phone call the only way?

2. Should I ask my wife to get a Police Report from Ho Chi Minh's Police Department now? Also do the Ho Chi Minh Police provide the forms or are the forms available from the US embassy?

All these waiting are so stressful, hehehe. Thank you all for any info. :)

Eggroll, just chill bro.. It will take at least a week for NVC to transfer your case to Vietnam. Then another month for them to start sending out Package 3 for you. :) For the Police Report, She can do it later no rush on it. If she wants to start that process now she can. It will take one week for them to get all the information for her then she can come back and pickup the Police Report. Now it is the time for you guys start collecting all the requirements of the process. If you are a Vietnamese/American. Then they will need a Copy of your Vietnamese Birth Certificate. Also, ask her to get a copy of her Birth Certificate and bring it to the same place that she got her Police Report and have they translate it to English for her. You will need it later on when she gets here.

Hope that will help you ;):dance::dance:

Hi there,

Question 2, you can ask your wife to go the Department of Justice which is situated in Pasteur street, Dist 3 for Police Report from now, that is fine. When she first goes to there, she will be given a form which she needs to fill it up and then return it to the Department of Justice. Tell her to bring her ID card, Passport Holder and 100.000 vnd (that is a fee) to apply the form. She will be asked to come back there to receive Police Record afer 2 weeks that starts from the day she applies. And it is used within one year.

Did i say your wife bring passport holder when she applies her form at Department Justice? If so, i am sorry, i made it wrong. She must take Household registration book with her. Hopefully you can add this information to tell your wife before she goes there.

Now to apply for Police Permit is still soon, you can wait until you get packet 3, then she can go to apply gradually. After she received packet 3, it will take her 3 months to the interview.
