Yes USEM does except a cosponsor for both K1 and Cr1. They are well aware about students and their financials. Be sure to follow what's outlined in the Embassy Letter (link is below). The strongest member of your family are your parents and if they make 300% make more than the PL. Yoi have you a strong case for approval.  Keep in mind no one can say for sure if you will pass. So like everyone else, your throwing the dice.

Money expectations from the family can run high.  Follow what as been suggested above. You won't regret you did.

If we do not pass does that jeopardize our chances with the CR-1 visa?

No it does not jeopardize your chances for another visa at all. As long as the denial is not fraud based or security based then you are fine. I say fraud because sometimes the embassy gives a denial for something like "they think the relationship is not genuine" type of thing. Which is pretty rare to get one of those from the USEM.

A number of people actually get denied initially for a tourist visa to the USA, and have no problems with a K1 or a CR-1 at a later date. My wife was one of those as well, she applied for a tourist visa to come with me to visit my family when I was working in the Middle East. She ending up being denied for that tourist visa, but was later approved for her K1 visa. So it's not uncommon at all for that to happen. You just to annotate when filing the DS-160.

Hmmmm I have a lot to consider now. K1 or CR1? CR1 is a sure thing but the process is longer and marriage in the Philippines is more difficult. K1 is faster but not guaranteed.

Or another option is to continue visiting her until you're done with school and settle with a permanent job? It's not ideal, but works for some folks.

Yes it would work but I am in the first 2 years of my undergrad and I expect at least 2 more years to graduate then at least 3 more of grad school. so why wait 5 years when I could just do the CR-1 and be with my wife in 1.5 years? (give or take)

Just suggesting another option is all. If you've already discussed this with your fiancée (someone had mentioned this earlier), then you can just ignore this part of my posting. Be sure to discuss money expectation, or it can be a marriage killer especially when you are still in school.

None of the visas are EVER guaranteed. That means even if you get married and try for for the CR1 visa it could very well be denied. I am not saying it will be happen but just trying to give you food for thought here.

not possible for us. I am a student and I do not meet the income requirement for that. In order to have my family co sponsor her visa we must do the CR-1.

Smart move... even with the annoying delays.

No.  Not an issue.  If.. big IF you didn't get the K-1 visa because of lack of income or an acceptable co-sponsor, it would not hinder your CR-1 visa.

You can get a co-sponsor accepted with the K-1 but it MUST be a close family member to improve this chance (parents, siblings).  You are out no more to do this than paying for flights resulting in failed chances at marriage.   Only big requirement is having met in person within the past 2 years from the date of filing the I-129F petition.

~ I will add; many times USEM is not even asking for support evidence with the K-1.. which doesn't mean don't be prepared, it only means you may be asked for nothing in that area.

My co sponsor is my mom and I have already flown to see her last May and I'm about to again this month. 30 days each visit. Gotta say, K1 is looking better and better. haha

You should have no issue with a co-sponsor using your mom.  I know of a fair number that are/were college students that did the K-1 and co-sponsor (close family member) without issue.

I have discussed this with my fiance now and we have decided to pursue the K1. We are both very excited about it. Thank you to everyone who replied ITT! I might have never considered this option again if not for you all.
