Hi,

I need advice from those who might have gone through a similar situation. I am a US citizen (who is of Syrian origin) and I am planning to get married to a Syrian girl who is in Syria now. I am divorced and my divorce is finalized in the US, but not registered in Syria yet. I am not sure how to get the marriage process done for the new wife! Is it possible to make a marriage contract in Lebanon and use it as a document for the I-130 visa application?

It might be a difficult mission for me to register our marriage in Syria because I did not serve in the military and, therefore, I might face complications in this regard!

We are able to meet in Lebanon; but I want to make sure that we can use a marriage document from Lebanon to suffice for the visa application!
I considered applying for a fiance visa, but it seems to be a risky situation with the new immigration laws by the president!

if anyone has gone a similar scenario or knows someone or knows any helpful info about this situation, your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

You can marry anywhere in the world. As long as the marriage is legal in the country you get married in, USCIS will accept it.
