Hello,

 

I am a student with an F-1 visa and I just received my OPT-EAD card last week. I applied for OPT last November during my last term in graduate school. My fiancee - who is a U.S. citizen - and I are getting married next month and I am getting ready to submit my adjustment of status packet.

 

Would I need to file a form I-765 also? And if I have a job, do I still need a sponsor/affidavit of support?

 

Also, on my I-485 form in Part 2. Application Type I am not sure which box to select. I entered the country as a F-1 student. Any ideas/suggestions?

Yes and yes. Your OPT EAD will be invalid once your I-485 is approved because your F-1 status will be canceled.

You can add your income to the I-864 but you still need a sponsor

Hi, Talile, We just mailed out our forms for AoS on 3/20, I will graduate in may too, do I still need to apply for OPT. I am so hesitant now. My school suggests me to applying for OPT, but I don't want to pay for it since I already submitted my 1-765 form.

04/03/2017-  Received 4 mails of NOA1 and case trackable online

05/01/2017-  Filed request for biometrics appointment 

05/04/2017-  Original mail was lost and missed bio appointment on 4/28

05/04/2017-  Request for reschedule bio appointment

05/11/2017-  50 days mark

05/15/2017-  Called USCIS and knew the date of bio appointment

05/19/2017-  Biometrics letter received in mail

06/02/2017-  Biometrics appointment

06/05/2017-  75 days mark

06/09/2017-  Ready to be scheduled for interveiw

I don't think you can apply for OPT after submitting for AOS but that means you will nt be able to work until you get your EAD from the AOS process. That will happen most likely (no promise) at the end of June

I also have a question that can I change my interview office after I submitted all the forms?
