What does my fiance have to do if approved for a visa?

Hi. I know this seems like a really dumb question but could someone please tell me what my fiance has to do if he gets approved for a visa? And honestly I haven't even seen what I have to do after he gets the visa. I know what to do up until approval, but after that point I haven't seen anything. Thank you!

If he gets approved he just has to make sure not to open the brown envelope the embassy gives him, hand it over at POE and marry you within 90 days. Then you two file AOS whenever you can

Depends on the embassy. Mine sent my passport with the visa in it, other go pick it up. 

 

What stage are you in? Once you get NOA2 from USCIS, you call NVC 1-2 weeks after (or you just wait until the acceptance form from NVC comes in the mail as a hardcopy) and ask if they've recieved your case and if they have, they'll give you your case number. With that you can submit your DS-160, then you pay $265 for the interview, and however much the country your fiancée is from for a medical+any vaccinations he needs. The embassy usually sends off a checklist with necessary documents, but bring proof of relationship (texts, photos, passport stamps etc like in the USCIS petition) also. Don't forget the Affidavit Of Support you have to fill out to prove you can financially take care of him, and if you're 125% over the poverty line you're good, but if not then you will need a sponsor.

Don't forget to do the medical 2 weeks before the interview date so they have some time to recieve this. It's not a huge deal if they don't, they put your case in AP if they can't approve it without making sure your fiancée isn't sick.

Ok thank you. We haven't started the process yet, we're trying to figure every thing out before we start the process. I'm guessing he would take the case number to the embassy and have the interview and they give him the visa there. We have all the proof of relationship and everything. I don't have the Affidavit of Support, though. Can I get that from the USCIS website?

The case number is entered on the DS-160 visa application, that is filled in online before scheduling the interview with the embassy. If you haven't already, check out the VJ guides, you'll find them in the menus. Up until NVC the process is the same for all, after this it's embassy specific so I recommend going to the local VJ subforum for your fiancé's country to get specific answers :)

and yes the i-134 is found on the uscis website..
