After your check is cashed?

Hi everyone i have a question...

My wife filed in our I-130 a week ago. They received it on Monday 27th of February and the check was cashed out on Friday 3rd of March by them (USCIS Phoenix) . We were thinking that we would have gotten an email from them with our NOA 1 since they already cashed the check but we have not...

I want to believe that it's because the money was cashed on a Friday and we may get an email some time during the coming week , but i'm a paranoid person and want to know if this is maybe normal for them to take the money out but not send us our NOA 1 right after doing so...

Do they usually do this? is there anything to worry about seeing that the check has already been cashed out by them.

Thanks in advance ^_^

If they cashed the check you have nothing to worry about. If you sent the form g-1145 with your package you might get a text/email tomorrow, but those notifications don't always work. You'll receive the NOA1 hardcopy in the mail within 30 days.

Just so you know, the G-1145 only provides a one-of notification of receipt, if you wanted any further electronic notifications, you would have to set that up through the USCIS website.

Yup, g-1145 is only for NOA1. Once you have your NOA1 you can create an account on uscis.gov to receive email/text whenever your case status updates. You obviously need your receipt number to do that, so you can't do anything before you receive your NOA1.

If the check was cashed on Friday, then you should get an email and/or text notification within 5 days. It should be this coming this week.

Just a side note about the significance of the cashing of the check:

Rejections

  • Your application will be rejected if it is not filled out completely and does not include correct signatures and the correct fee.
  • In fiscal year 2014, the Lockbox facilities processed over 7.7 million applications and rejected about 8 percent of the applications received. The most common rejection reasons are that the applications were not signed or the correct fees were not enclosed.
  • The Lockbox facilities accept applications with information that is deemed critical to acceptance of the application. This information is critical because it is used to process our business rules, such as reasons for filing or eligibility categories, and/or it is required by USCIS case management systems.

Therefore, you have enough information to continue the process and have the application reviewed over the course of the upcoming months, and they cashed your check as a result.  They do not cash your check if your application is deemed incomplete.

Same situation here. I'm in CA, My lawyer sent out application for I 130 last Friday 08/01/18 to Chicago lockbox,  USCIS cashed the check sometime this morning EST 08/08/18. I haven't received and email or mail yet. Will wait a couple of weeks and see if they send it in. Will keep updating
