Hi everyone,

I am an American born in Belgium, I have both nationalities. My father is American and my mother is Belgian. Next year I intend to live in the US with my fiancé who is from Suriname but living in Belgium.

But we're facing trouble filling the I-129f form.

At some point they are asking the address where my fiancé intends to live. The thing is that we don't have any address right now in the US, we both live in Belgium. We just know we want to live in Seattle. However I have family in New Jersey and Orlando, so should I put their address? Does that mean we will have to fly there first and live there for a while?

Was someone in the same position before?

Thank you for your help!

When my now husband filed the K1, he was in the process of moving and didn't have a proper address, so he used his mom's house (on all his ID) for the paperwork.

When I entered the US 6 months later, the officer processing my entry asked me to provide an address if different than what was on file, so I gave them the new address.

You probably will need to move or use one of your relatives address when you move to US, at least be around them in case you receive something in the mail for immigration purposes. You could also enclose a letter in the application explaining that you may move in the future but that your intended will be moving with you, and of course all the details you can provide, so if you do move or things changed it's noted in the initial file.

The thing is like we want to live in Seattle but we don't have any relative there or in the west coast.
So, for instance, if we write my family's address in New-York, we will have to go there at and live around there at our arrival. But then how much time will last the procedure to get married, receive the papers, fill them, and everything else? 3 months? 6 months? Do we have to stay there during all the procedure not being able to travel around?

Here the question is simple. Let us not overthink. The purpose for this question is first for the correspondence between you guys and the USCIS. Which address will be used to forward your mails? Secondly which is really really rare the USCIS can decide to come in house and confirm if really you guys live together as lovers as you are pretending and so for that , they would like to know your physical address. And also to abide by the law; every green card holder has to report his address change every time he/she is moving around the US. To easily be tracked. Put any address in the US but make sure you are in contact with you relatives for the mails.

You can use a family's address and if you move during the process file an address change within a week of establishing your new home and everything should be forwarded to you.   You can update your address here: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAInitForm.do;jsessionid=6B4EC17ABAE3B11C85A367DC68F5CDC7

The form will ask if it is for a current pending case file.  They don't expect people to be living in the same place throughout the entire process.
