Hey @Diego&Dianna

Did guys include a G-1145 when you submitted your I-129F? You'll only get a SMS or e-mail notification if you sent the form together with your petition. Otherwise, you'll just have to wait for the NOA1 hardcopy.

Hi @KULtoATL Yes we did send the G-1145 with our packet. Maybe I am just being impatient here  haha

Thanks :) I'll have to get one from the UK too because I used to live there during high school  I had to do all VN, UK and NZ when I was applying for my residency in NZ previously. However, I wonder if the police certificates will have to date within 3-6 months from the interview date (as I currently have the VN and UK ones done back in 2015 for my residency in NZ)..given I haven't lived in the other 2 countries.

I don't know if this is the right thread or if I should create a new thread >< as I don't want to sidetrack this thread with my questions!! Sorry I'm still new at posting here..

From DoS' website:

Police Certificates

If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a photocopy of a police certificate from all countries you have lived in using below criteria:

If you ... AND you... THEN submit a police certificate from...
Are 16 years old or older Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life Your country of nationality
Are 16 years old or older Have lived in your country of current residence (if different from nationality) for more than 6 months Your country of current residence
Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more Were 16 years or older at the time you lived there The country where you used to live.
Were arrested for any reason, regardless of how long you lived in that city or country, and no matter what age you were   The city and/or country where you were arrested.
  • Send a photocopy of your police certificate(s) to NVC.
  • Bring the original police certificate(s) plus a photocopy to your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.

Important: Police certificates expire after one year, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:

  • You are more than 16 years old;
  • The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one year ago; and
  • You still live in the country that issued the certificate.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

Thanks a lot, this is very helpful! I notice in the Note section there's "unless the certificate was issues from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since..." applies to my UK one. I still keep the original certificate issued in September 2015, wondering if that will do..I'll probably ask the consular once I've received the packet. For Vietnam, however, I only returned for holidays for 3 weeks in 2016 (also after my police certificate was issued in September 2015). I'll get the VN one anyone since it's relatively easy to get.

Not a problem. Glad to share the official info with you because I should know this for my knowledge too :D

It's a great idea that you check with your local embassy/consulate just to be sure about the requirements.

Thanks to those last posts referring to Police certificates, I sent query to my local embassy too. I lived in Germany for 6 years, 19 years ago. If required it is easier to have it prepared on time to avoid stress. So lets see what they respond.

One more question, does any of you have kids immigrating with you on K1 if approved?

Thanks for sharing good advices!
