👍  Visa Approved 👍

In and out of the embassy in under and hour, very quick, the whole process.

Not sure why they want you to take copies of each document though, they never took or asked for any of it, took all the originals and gave me back my birth certificate and CD with lung x-rays on. Said I will get my documents back later (I assume with the passport). Also just one photo, but they ask for two on the checklist. Also, just took the letter from employer for the I-134, didn't want the tax stuff. Security seems to have been beefed up a little, maybe because of the tube bomb/terror alert this morning in London. Anyway ...

Questions asked:

Where have you met ?

When you went to the States, did you meet her family ?

Where does she live ?

Where was she born ? (I suspect, since they can see her Birth certificate, they tried to catch me out on this one since it differs from where she lives now) 😉

Then said, he is going ahead and issue the visa. Job done, not even 5 minutes at the window !

Good luck everyone !

Congrats!!!!!   We definitely want to see a POE pic...... AT A HUSKERS GAME!!!!!!!!

Speedy entry :D

Sorry, yes, what the others have said, that is the first available appointment, but if you continue further, they give you a calendar and can choose another date that suits you ! Good Luck !

Finally our k-1 is approved, we got rfe on august 7th and approval on 13th of September.  It took 162 days total.  Next step is to get  nvc case number. How long did it take for you guys ? Two weeks or more ?

Yeah about two weeks, our NOA2 was 8/3 and I phoned the NVC on the 16th and just so happened that they just created a case number on that day.

This afternoon I get a note from lawyer, CEAC website went offline halfway through our DS-160 application, so it's not getting filed today.

So another three day delay as our case sits ready in Montreal.

I've been trying to access it myself and they're not lying. When is something going to go right with this process?

Yup, thanks! I just saw your timeline btw, congratulations on your approval!

Thank you! I will send you a sample of authorization letter. My friend told me your fiancée needs it..

Yza is being cautious and I tend to lend to the cautious side, as well.  Your original post didn't specify you were naturalized.  Although no one can get married at age 14, go ahead and order the cenomar for security but truthfully, I doubt they will want it.

You're right.. But some consulate ask for it, so he should just get it just in case. Just to avoid 221G 😊 it is better to go there with complete requirements..

Just out of interest, do you have a complicated case as I was just wondering why you used a lawyer in the first place ?

Is it not possible to do it from here on your own? Give them what they "earned" so far, although, they probably make a killing just to mail something for you since you have to complete and get all the documents yourself anyway.

Btw, CEAC is down for me too, trying to check if anything changed since my interview today, but not working for me either.

We have an incredibly simple case. There is a decent age gap (51 v. 28) that's not typical for US-Canada relationships. I'm modestly wealthy. Funny/sad background story -- when we decided to get married, I called one of my attorneys for a recommendation for an immigration attorney. The name I got was the prior director of USCIS who'd recently resigned. I spoke with him (after a bunch of stuff worthy of a spy novel) and he refused to take the case given its simplicity, stating pretty much any attorney could handle it. Wrong-o there, my friend.

We opted to use an attorney because we didn't want any glitches, realizing only after all the glitches that they're caused by attorneys, not solved by them.

CEAC just came back online -- less then 30 minutes to quitting time, and literally just a minute after I'd gotten a heading home for the weekend email from the lawyer.
