LOL I can give you that and he said you could call back in a couple of hours we may have it then. I said I will call back tomorrow and he said sure thing we look forward to your call. Oh they are such a breathe of fresh air to talk to. lol

Still waiting on packet 4. Do you happen to know what other dates were available?

It seems like all the wednesdays in october i was also still waiting and i sent my packet via email on thursday so i resent it today a few hours later they replied to my resent email with packet 4... apparently  from a few people on here, when the status says ready its not always ready. So resending really helped me!

hello,

case ready at NVC today , my F got an email with the instructions , we submitted the DS-160 and I  have to send later today a checklist confirming I have all the documents ready and I think that's when they will let me know I can pay and book the interview . I think this is how it works for Romanian US embassy .

Or you guys could pay the visa fee before scheduling the interview?

Me and my F got our emails this morning too, but for some reason... it is all in Romanian sooo... I can't read a word of it including the attachements!!! Like why would they do that?!  lol
Anyhow, yeah, you after you submit the DS160 you can pay the fee, then you can schedule the interview, then you can schedule the medical.

It still shows Texas Service Center.  K-1s are handled through California.  You will have better estimates if you show the correct location.

It is good to know that I am not alone in this!!! Mine is also stuck on Texas Service Center since there is no option for me to choose Texas Lockbox also!... good thing this is just to give people an idea and not a government site where everything really matters *wink* *wink*  hehe

Congratulations!!!  Things are starting to get into your court now.  Start getting all the rest of the paperwork together.  DS-160, Police Certificates, Financial records, prepare for scheduling medical... Now you have to wait for NVC.  I believe that is about a month, give or take.  Not a bad idea to be able to hit the ground running when the NVC approves you!!!

Ok, so my NOA2 is dated for Aug 8 and reached the embassy in Romania on the the 25th via scan... this was only 18 days from NOA2 to embassy!!!  (NVC assigned the case# was on the 22nd)
So, From NOA2 to embassy.. 18 days!!!

Since when did NVC go to a month?  Please don't say that :(  also I have heard mixed reviews on police reports as to who needs them and from where ?!   He needs a police report from his home country?

I don't think most cases are taking a month. NVC seems to be much quicker then the USCIS. Many of the customer service reps that I spoke with, told me that they don't like to hold on to the cases any longer than they need to and they are there for only a few days after they assign a case#.

that's great , have to book  my medical soon , too. but why is it taking so long there..what do they check on you so much  in Romania is same day , i just have to pay like 130$ the medical exam cost and aprox 50$ to get it same day , otherwise is next day pick up results

I did not know about a medical fee.. is that $130 and $50 dollars or lei? I did not know you could pay to get the results the same day! Does this mean you are going to schedule the medical and interview for the same day??

we gonna be a bit poor at the end of this process with all the fees, wedding, AOS , travel to US etc etc

anyways , is normal in Canada is more expensive but 453 CAD is .......

Although my F is a procrastinator... he has been very good in this area. He has a side hobby and AND has been working extra and has been able to earn some extra and save a bit of money for when he comes here because he does not want to feel like everything is on me since he won't be able to work for a bit till he can get his green card. So, I think that is super awesome on his part and I feel really lucky that he thought about that.

In other news.. so, yeah, got the emails this morning from the embassy, he got his DS160 completed and will be getting his police certificate when he gets off work in the morning, I sent the envelope of stuff to him at 12:20 this afternoon via DHL and it was only $45 and is going to arrive by Thursday night... like how CRAZY is that?! Thank you @TearsOfBabylon for the info!! I thought it was well worth it to make sure it is there in time since Labor day weekend is this weekend.
So happy to see that there has been much progress for everyone here so far this week!

He sounds like me. I am trying to save all I can so I won't burden Chris either. I have never depended on someone else since I was 20. I can hardly imagine doing it now. lol

I forgot to say I made an appointment with the Public Health Nurse in the town I work in for tomorrow at 10am to get my Tetanus shot. It is the only vaccination I need thankfully. That is almost the last of what I need done for my interview whenever that may be. I am gonna message the lady in town here who does canadian passport photos and ask if she can do some with the american specs. :) Then I can the 4 I need for medical and the 2 I need for the interview. Sooooo many pictures LOL

The Montreal medical is like $453 Canadian apparently which you pay at the medical its crazy! .. and the interview fee was 265 USD and $20.00 to courier your passport back .(Canadian) (paid upfront)

My Medical in Toronto was $300 CAD. Optional courier for $50 extra. Montreal is around $450 that's correct. It is seriously expensive.

The entire process took me an hour, but I only spent 1 minute with the doctor.... was kind of thrown off.

Its funny how montreal is more expensive..probably because they know alot of people will go there (better to travel once than twice right?!)     I am just excited to have the timeline!

Yeah that whole must be a US Practitioner for Visa applicants is a crock of bs in my opinion. My cheapest option even with medical being so much in Montreal is Montreal and staying for a week doing that and then interview. Being a gal from southern Manitoba smack dab in the middle of the country I really have no choice in the matter. Why the bleep they do not put a doctor in say Saskatoon or Regina or Winnipeg makes no sense for us poor prairie people.

Hi Holly,

the medical exam cost in Romania is 750 RON( Romanian currency ) if you want the results the same day , otherwise he will get the results the second day with a cost of only 450-500 RON depends to which of the two approved clinics your F will go .

I won't schedule interview and medical same day , as it would be too tight and will keep a gap of one or two days in between .

However I wanna minimize my time spent in Romania as I wanna come back asap in the Us and stat the next steps... I am currently unemployed for one month only and staying in the house or just go for shopping ... I already got bored. and imagine is just the beginning of the next waiting timings...AOS and so on...

Yeah! This process is seriously a wallet eater. All the panel physicians are only in T.O or MTL, which is very inconvenient for IDK, the rest of Canadians!? Flights aren't cheap, travel isn't cheap.

I only live a 5 hour drive from Montreal, and the trip is already going to cost me around 500$ to stay there/gas to drive there before expenses like eating and we are only staying 2 nights (the night before the interview, and the night after.) Can't imagine those who have to fly back and forth multiple times =(

On top of spending all that money - when we get to the US we cant work for like 3-6 months till an EAD lol

My flight will be about 400 return. Mum is coming with me and we will be staying for 6 nights likely 7 at the most but we are going to book an airbnb if we can to cut costs. My Mum is paying for the airbnb and food as a gift to me since I need so much money for everything. :) There is a panel physician in Surrey, BC but lol that is not an option for me either.  They really need one for the mid canada people but that will never happen. LOL

How are you doing with that? Being away from home that is... friends and family that you have known for a long time. My F is just now realizing (even though we talked about it a long time ago) that it is going to be difficult for him to leave that behind. I suggested to him that he stay there until the end of Oct just to give himself that bit of extra time with his "people"  hehe and to take that last month off from work to maximize his time for whatever he needs to do.

Back in May he had  purchased a one way plane ticket for Oct 25th for $280 dollars (super cheap!!!), but then returned it because he was worried that if he got approved sooner, he wouldn't be able to come until that date... and now look LOL it is what it is and I am ok with whatever he decides because I can only imagine how hard a move like that is.
EDIT: This was a conversation that we just had earlier today.
