The sections that were generated new for us on our first edit were two parts of "Previous Work/Education/Training information." One part was information about her job preceding her present job. The second part was about her education background. The education part completely vanished and she couldn't find a way for that section, or the question that generates that section, to come back up. Her previous employment information stayed in the form and was visible in the review. This time through, it never asked about previous employment, and since the education information comes after that, the form never asked about that either. The whole "Previous Work etc." is completely absent from the menu on the left.

If it makes you feel better my form had employment information but nothing about educational. I wonder if this is something they are testing to add and somehow it came across as you were filing.

Here's where the rabbit hole gets deeper. ;) I used a service called Rapid Visa to help prepare and organize our documents. When you sign up for their service, you go through a massive amount of online forms and fill everything out. They use all this information to generate all the forms we need for the K1 process such as I-129F, I-134, and a worksheet to aid in filling out the DS160. That way we just print everything, add our evidence to it, and mail it away. The worksheet that was generated to fill out the DS160 has even more questions that never came up while filling it out. Everything on the worksheet is verbatim, in order, and divided by section just like the DS160 is on the site. The phantom sections are part of this worksheet in addition to other details in other sections.

On the bright side, I have never heard of anyone being declined because of an incomplete DS160. I read on one site that the form is somewhat dynamic and only generates form fields according to previously entered information. I don't know how accurate that is. To me, it's naught but a rumor. I would guess that there are a dozen or so of these forms filled out every day with no one knowing that some of these sections or questions exist, and they get approved anyways.

I think the system glitched out and added fields it should not have. I think its meant for more than one type of visa (hense why the company you used to help with documents probably has a generic template of questions to request)    this is the same as the affidavit of support some things dont apply but theyre on the form. I personally wouldnt worry too much about this one..

I'm not the one that needs convincing, but I do appreciate the vote of confidence. We have a slightly different attitude when it comes to dealing with these things on this side of the pond.

All I was inferring is that Americans have a different mentality about dealing with the government than people from other countries, especially former Soviet countries that hold the gold medical in ludicrous bureaucratic olympics.

Does anyone have an attorney that they feel is slowing them down??? My case was set to "ready" 2 days ago now and he is just now saying he will get to my DS160 and NOT to schedule the interview yet?!?! Are you kidding me? I'm so beyond frustrated. I called the Manila embassy yesterday and they told me the next avail date was Oct 2nd! He said we need to wait to schedule until we have everything. I am upset. This is ridic. If we wait... the interview dates are gonna fricken go out to November. He kept saying "the embassy doesn't even have the case yet" and I said, "umm, actually they do and I have the case number and was advised ok to schedule interview by the embassy".

Im just venting here and I don't want to rush things and have it wrong but this is ridiculous. I could do it all myself. I even emailed him the screenshot showing the case was "ready"... ugh man I tell ya guys, this is killing me..

I had the same problem, I felt my attorney was slowing me down.  He told me the exact same thing about not scheduling the interview until the embassy had our case.  Long story short, I ended up firing him and just took care of the rest myself.
