It wasn't touched until a full week after my senator's office asked about it.

My lawyer says it's just coincidence and the inquiry had no effect. I disagree with him.

From all the cases we've seen from March filers contacting their congressman after their case is "stuck" and then it magically becoming "unstuck," I'm inclined to believe that the inquiry did have an effect. Maybe they didn't work it immediately, but it could have been pulled from wherever they keep the backlog and put into the regular queue. Also, congratulations!!! It's been a long time coming!

It's been a bit since the last update since I've been working, but now that I have a break, here's the by-day breakdowns current as of about noon on 8/17.

Next, NOA2s by date the NOA2 was isssued. I trimmed this to just the past month because it's gettin awkwardly large.

8/14 was a big day for August issues:

2017/07/14 2
2017/07/17 2
2017/07/18 3
2017/07/19 10

2017/07/29 5
2017/07/31 11

2017/08/09 1
2017/08/10 1
2017/08/11 2
2017/08/14 7

And last, the big countries. Canada suddenly goes from one of the last to tied for first. It's really starting to look like they batch things by country. My sympathy to those marrying people from the Dominican Republic, clearly the USCIS isn't a fan of your country.:

Australia 9 7 77.8%
Brazil 23 18 78.3%
Canada 20 18 90%
China 7 4 57.1%
Colombia 10 5 50%
Dominican Republic 14 5 35.7%
India 9 7 77.8%
Jamaica 7 4 57.1%
Japan 7 5 71.4%
Mexico 7 4 57.1%
Nigeria 12 10 83.3%
Philippines 93 59 63.4%
Russia 11 8 72.7%
Ukraine 10 9 90%
United Kingdom 32 24 75%
Vietnam 7 6 85.7%

I am March 15 received date hope to hear something soon😓

So it took a full week for them to approve it?

If they did, then ur background n other checks must have been already done before ur inquiry

You can read the Q&A with a case adjudicator on this side -- if you're not actually flagged, the background check happens when they touch the case. The entire case is processed in about 15 minutes, including the background check, which is just putting your name into a system that searches databases for any problems.

If you're dealing with a high-fraud or high-risk country, there's probably additional checks that slow things down, but all the evidence says for most people, they're just sitting on the cases as backlog and process them in minutes once they actually touch them.

That's my read as well. It's quite the coincidence that at least for KosmicBlues and our case, we both get NOA2 a few days after we have an inquiry done.

I don't think that would be true if you were only 2 months in, but at 5 months, I bet they just do the case rather than deal with another inquiry for skipping it.

So ur case wasn't touch until u emailed ur senator?  My case online shows received March 15 and was last touched on March 24th. Nothing yet so far. When i called yesterday, i was told by the rep that my case looked good, however i was till in the normal processing time.

Where on-line do you see "last touched" all I see on mine is received on date.

Or are you referring to an App?

Go to USCIS and create an account. It shows when last ur case was touched. It also gives u the opportunity to receive text/email alerts regarding ur case.

It's been weeks since I have been here. I been waiting for my new passport which I applied for since May to be ready(to be able to move forward with submitting application) and I been bitching about it and FINALLY got it, embassy contacted me since July 7th(old passport had less than 6 months and that's a no no here with embassy) and on Tuesday(August 15th) I was finally able to complete the 160 form and inform them, and I come in here and am shocked to see people from our group, still waiting for NOA2's. Really put things into perspective!!! Hope all works out for people still waiting.

Thanks. If not for this long wait for passport, it's possible I would have had or been having interview already. It's been 5 weeks of waiting for passport since consulate sent package 3 but I am grateful that we can now move forward

If that's allowed in the UK - just run. I got my NVC number on a Monday 8pm and started the 4 hour drive to the clinic at 4am, because I just wanted to have it done.
Was at medical on July 18th and had my interview on August 8th then. Pack 3 arrived in between.

Oh man, I wish.  You have to make an appointment in the UK though -_-
