So I just submitted the DS160. On the confirmation page it says I must show proof I paid the visa application fee. However, I wasn't asked to pay anything. Is this normal?

As far as I know yes. You can pay when you schedule your interview.

So, I feel like I have seen people talking about checking their case after NOA2, but before embassy stage...what case number are you using to check it?  the WAC number?
Also, my NOA2 date is Aug 8th... USCIS still shows my case as received lol

Forget about USCIS and WAC ...you're done with that

You give NVC a call and check if they have it. They give you a new case number which you can use at https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

Our NOA2 date was 8/3 and NVC only created case number yesterday 8/16, so give them about 2 weeks before you call on +1 (603) 334-0700.

The ceac tracking is with the NVC number; that's where you track once it leaves the USCIS.
You can try calling after about 2 weeks from NOA2 Notice, or you just wait for their email.
I got mine by calling, but the email was already sitting in Scott's mailbox as well!

I'd suggest you to try calling (I did every 2nd day for like a week) starting 2 weeks after NOA2 notice. Say you wanted to ask if they've received your case yet, but you only have the WAC number.
If they ask for your date of birth and beneficiarys date of birth - Jackpot!
If they didn't receive it yet they'll tell you that it can take up to 6 weeks. That's the standard answer they have to give, and it's fine. Say thank you, you'll call back in a week and call the next day :P

NVC phone staff is very friendly! :)

Good luck for your further journey! :)

Okay, thanks... thought I was missing something. I thought there was a number I could use to check it to see if NVC had received it or not.
And I was only mentioning the WAC number to further show how broken and unreliable USCIS really is lol

See the attached photo. This is taken right from the I-134 Instructions. When I filled out the I-134 I didn't include my savings, just the amount in my checking account. I got my letter from the bank the same day so the two amounts would match. This was about two months before the interview.

But the instructions for the I-134 to specifically include the letter from the bank. The fact that you make 300% the poverty level means you should have no problem and don't need to include other assets. You do however need to provide proof that you make this amount from multiple sources: https://www.uscis.gov/i-134

It is a common thing to use only income and not savings or bank deposits. The instructions say to submit documents"as appropriate", depending on what you are using, not that everything listed is necessary :)

Good to know... I am getting so excited and anxious!
I know I am the petitioner and those who are bene's say they have so much to do to prepare for the big move, but I am feeling the pressure of all the stuff I need to get done too! And sometimes, when I have too much going on at one time it gets really hard for me to focus on just one thing... which is really bad cuz tryna do a million things at the same time is not productive at all!  lol
Last night I actually asked my F if he wanted one side of the closet or the two cabinets on the side of it... he got a kick out of that, but I really needed to know and he said he didn't care! Like how was I to proceed with an answer like that?!  lol

*EDIT*
But, to be fair, one of the cabinets has a rod in it to hang clothes in it!  hehe

Haha, see that's typically woman! :):):)

Scott has piled my now 6 moving boxes that came with DHL in the hallway and is just waiting. He was making fun that I can be busy squaring stuff away once I'm there. So he's saving it for me. How GENEROUS haha
Honestly, from beneficiary perspective: I'm so glad once this entire thing is done. All these organizing appointments, 1000s of things you have to think of, from selling the furniture to cancelling the home phone... on top with medical checks and of course the whole consulate anxiety. I can't wait for it to be over.
Now I'm down to an almost empty apartment, a quit job, my passport and visa at home, on to booking my flight next week... it feels like it never ends.
I guess I will finally calm down from speed once I'm in the train to Hamburg, from where I will leave for the USA 4 days later. :)

But you have every right to be anxious after such a long wait. It was a pain for me already and we were super quick. I can only imagine how you felt, and you got my kudos for still being so sweet and patient. I'm very happy for you! :)
