I went to fedex/UPS to prepare and ship my RFE today...there were two others preparing their K1 Application/RFEs..never knew it was so popular that you just run into people doing K1...

How long did it take you to receive the RFE letter in the mail? I was told i have one on the 7th Aug, but no letter yet

And she had no issues at the Consulate, though she had did forget her Birth Certificate at the hotel! Thankfully she realized and was able to get it in time for her interview (stated just a block away from the consulate). I think you should be good with your appointment.

Questions asked:

  • Petitioners full name & address
  • Beneficiaries full name & address
  • Was it our first marriage
  • When and how we met
  • any kids
  • how we went from meeting to where we are now
  • wedding plans

Thanks for confirming! Appreciate that.

Just spoke to NVC, confirmed they received the case and gave me our case number, etc. Was on hold for about 30mins, but what a lovely lady. So friendly and professional. Breath of fresh air after dealing with USCIS :jest:

Wonderful news.

I am in a state of discouragement. I have been trying to save up money to pay for a return ticket to Montreal, pay for the medical, pay for the interview and anything else I might need while there. Mum said she would pay for the airbnb but if she can't come I don't want to make her do that. I just told Chris that it might be later than we expect because I need at least a couple months to finish saving money. the problem is things keep coming up. I had to pay 300 at the dentist yesterday and my car needed 500 dollars of work done to it. :( Sigh I can't seem to get ahead right now. I had to get the car fixed because I work out of town and need it to get to work unfortunately. ARGH Although I am extremely happy I am worried about the fact this is all so much money. Sucks that they make us prairie province people go so far for a medical :( It is truly not fair but then I remember they don't give a bleep about us.

Oh and I have to get my cat to the vet for a shot and checkup. Buy an approved carrier so she can go on the plane to Denver with me when I finally am able to fly down to Denver. my Mum is paying for that flight for a present to Chris and I or I wouldnt be able to go until spring. I might be able to borrow money from Mum but with me not being able to work for gosh knows how long. Ugh anyway don't mind me the enormity of it all is hitting me.

Yup, this process seems to be made more difficult when money isn't raining from the sky. If we were all millionaires, we wouldn't have to complain about waiting months between visits or being able to see each other. :D

You have a good point. I am gonna talk to my Mum. She may loan me some the problem is my sister is in the midst of buying a business and Mum is loaning her a huge sum of money. :( I don't want to interfere with that because that is much more important than my wanting to be in the states. Ah well. I may just push off my interview til November anyway but I am gonna talk to my Mum about it and see what she thinks. My credit card isn't high enough for me to use it which is probably a good thing. I am trying to rebuild my credit after I ruined it when I was in my early twenties. Dumb Dumb me but I know better now. LOL

Mine was date June 15, 2017 and we had our interview today. I also pulled pay stubs from end of May into June. Bank Letter was dated 6-16-2017 and I pulled a May statement from my investment account. Just to give you a bit of the time frame...

I was wondering do you know if they really look at the investments and cash seriously in bank? I make 300% the poverty line but do not have cash stacked or investment stuff.

If you have enough based on your income, you don't even need to use savings or assets, so no need for them to look at your bank info. Never heard of any country where that was mandatory and we are not going to provide anything bank related, just taxes and work related documents.

See the attached photo. This is taken right from the I-134 Instructions. When I filled out the I-134 I didn't include my savings, just the amount in my checking account. I got my letter from the bank the same day so the two amounts would match. This was about two months before the interview.

But the instructions for the I-134 to specifically include the letter from the bank. The fact that you make 300% the poverty level means you should have no problem and don't need to include other assets. You do however need to provide proof that you make this amount from multiple sources: https://www.uscis.gov/i-134

If the USCIS case tracker is working, it will update the status with the RFE received date. Just go to USCIS and put in your WAC number from the NOA1.

If it's not working, well... that's that.
