What kind of information are you seeking?

How did you and your fiance meet?

Usually if it's a well known website that the person looking over your paperwork knows well, like Facebook or E-Harmony type of website they may not ask for extra evidence. If you do receive an RFE and need to send in additional evidence showing the website wasn't apart of a IMB, then all you have to do is print out the terms of conditions from the website or have a customer service rep send you an email saying that the website isn't an IMB (I have read that this has been accepted as well).

The majority of us probably met online. Like Cuba said if its a well known online site than you shouldn't have an issue. My fiance and I met in the virtual world Second Life nearly 5 years ago now. I don't expect an RFE but if we get one we get one. Usually they are just easy to answer and don't slow down things too much from what I have seen. Often people are excited to get one because after 90some days their case was touched. LOL

I was advised by my immigration attorney friend to be very generic in describing how my fiancee and I started communicating with each other to avoid any IMB questions. We were set up to meet through the wife of a good friend of mine, but my first draft of my "how we met" explanation seemed to suggest that we met through Viber, an app we use to text message and call each other. It was recommended that I simply write we initiated our contact through text message rather than naming the specific app we used.

I guess I want to know whats the relationship a dating website and IMB and what is chance of them asking for more evidence for this.

I had sent my petition in before seeing/knowing of this kink. I named the website and I sent them a screen shot of our first conversation ( two messages each and phone numbers were exchanges in those message).

The difference is a IMB is a international marriage broker which will pair you with someone to marry online (I'm guessing, since I've never seen or been on one). A dating website is just you meeting different people on the site to initially date and then marry.

I think you should be okay if you sent in the start of your conversations with the name of the website. I read a few couples who did this to show that the conversation started off with intentions of getting to know eachother and dating rather than marriage off bat, and they got approved.

Even if you do get an RFE, it'll be okay. You are able to send off what they need immediately and it'll only push back your NOA2 by a week or 2. Usually once they get the paperwork they need from the RFE their quick to revise and approve.

Isn't it though. Its so nice to be in this together and when we get all frustrated we can vent here and everyone understands. :D Day 32 here.

Day 29 here.. 1/3rd of the way there. Lord willing...

If I can vent a bit.. I know a few posts back I said I was grateful for my own space in this stressful time of mine. But... over this Easter weekend, an immense feeling that something was missing came over me. It wasn't until I sat down beside my grandpa and my uncle who were going back and forth about Cuba that I realized the only thing missing was my mister... I could picture him Corona in hand and in the middle of the convo; telling jokes the way my grandfather does... with a straight face lol I never know when to laugh or take them seriously. It just made the longing a little bit worse.

And all the questions!! How is he? What is he doing? When is he coming? Is he excited? So what are the plans?... oh and the best ones are the stories of "I just met someone from Cuba who got here a couple of months ago... they did it like this and this and then bam they were here." LOL! I'm always like "that's awesome!! But we're going the K1 route.. and yes it does take that long." People sure do have their 2 cents and see me as a piggy bank hahahahhaahaaa. I'm just ready for him to get here! Or at least get the NOA2!!

You can always vent Cuba and I promise to always listen. I can understand that with Easter. My fiance who is in the states said the very same thing to me yesterday. He was so very sad and missing me so very much. I said to him hey I hope I make it for your birthday cause its your 50th but if not I will be there by Thanksgiving in the States.

But yes I swear everytime I go to work a co-worker will ask questions. I finally said we are at day 22 this was 10 days ago she asked and she said oh and I said it can take 90 plus days to get our approval and even then its months from when I can go down. LOL It was my boss who asked and I understand cause I am giving them two months notice so that they can put an ad in the paper and hire someone and then I can train them before I leave. I am the Assistant Administrator at a Public Library here in Canada.

Ha yeah I hear ya on the so and so did this route. And I said so and so(my cousin) did it the wrong way and paid for it. She was like oh right. *rolls eyes* People don't get that to do this properly it takes time.

Yeah, I get the whole thing as that's the only thing missing.. being with my family yesterday and still not all of them know what I am going through and it getting brought up and as soon as someone finds out for the first time they always question or comment that he just wants to come here for a green card.. It's really annoying and sad and frustrating and then I make the mistake of telling him how things went and I bring that up and then it makes him feel bad and angry and upset that they aren't trusting what we have and the whole reason we are getting married. My sister also just found out because we aren't that close and I guess my mom had told her, I don't even know when, but I had tried to bring it up a few times and it just never seemed to work out, so my mom told her at some point, so yesterday she is take the cupcakes off her tiered cupcake display to put it all away at the end of the night and she is like... how come you never told me you are getting married? I kinda froze  lol and my cousin screams.. what?! you are getting married?! to who?! how long have you known him? how did you guys meet?... just a barrage of questions... then the how do you know he doesn't just want to come over for a green card... ugh then surprisingly, my sister said if I wanted her to make cupcakes for the wedding, she would gladly do it and showed me pics of the ones she did for her cousins using the cupcake display and it turned out really nice! I was surprised and she had a little cake for the very top of it. Talking about all this stuff makes it more difficult and seems to make the time drag even more. Like, we just can't wait for him to be here. He is so eager, he wants to quit his job to start planning for it and doing everything he needs to have done and i'm like... nooooo!!! you can't do that!!!  lol  I think you need to be employed because I am fairly certain they ask about that at the interview... anyone know how important that is?
But, I am so glad I can talk about this stuff here because everyone does know exactly what we are going through and how hard it is to be away from our not-so-nearest and dearest and there is no.. he could be using you for a green card.. coming from anyone reading this =)

I met my F online in a game and I am not worried about it at all. We met in World of Warcraft lol as silly as that sounds! If they need proof of this, we have all kinds that date back to May 2014! I saw a video on youtube that this girl did and she was talking about her interview and she had met her F in a game online and the person who interviewed her asked her all kinds of crazy questions about the game that they met through... it was kinda funny. So, if he gets that in his interview I will just think it's cute and funny, but I am definitely not expecting an RFE because we met online. That would just be goofy in my opinion! There would be a ton of RFE's if they RFE'd everyone who met online and that would be a huge waste of time for them I would think. I would not worry too much about it =)

Oh, and here is a question for anyone who might know... I have seen in some people's timeline thing that gets automatically posted under a post that they do, where a bunch of stuff is listed like even the received date after it is transferred to a service center, can anyone tell me how or where I would find this info? I di get my hard copy and USCIS California Service Center is listed at the bottom of the page down on the left, but it doesn't say anything about when they will get my packet or that they are in charge of it anywhere in the notice... I only know it's there cuz of that address and the Receipt number is a WAC number which I had read somewhere that that is a CSC number identifier. Any info on this would be appreciated! =)

I don't know much about IMB but I think they run some additional checks if that's how you met.

We met at a language exchange website, and we included their terms of service in our petition because I read somewhere that adjudicators don't check such things online, they only look at your papers, and if it's not something as well-known as Facebook you might get an RFE if you don't send anything to prove that it wasn't an IMB.
