Our case is "In Transit" from NVC to the consulate. We haven't received anything from NVC (I called and got the case#) and obv not from the consulate yet. Can I go ahead and submit the DS-160?

My fiance received our case number in an email from the NVC and in this email it told him I could go ahead and fill out the DS160 (and my case was in transit for a week and then it took 3 weeks after it said ready for me to get packet 4).  I haven't had my interview yet but I don't anticipate it being a problem since the email told me to go ahead and do it.

NOA1 March 16th still waiting. I am furious with this entire process...can't even be happy for others that have sent theirs in after me, that have received a response from the same processing center...sigh

We have all spent our time waiting! Some even longer than you! It's a frustrating journey, and discouraging to see others get their approval before you do! I know that's easy for me to say now I received ours yesterday, but stay strong, keep the faith, keep your chin up! It's all a matter of time; when it's all said and done, one day you'll look back at this process as a glimpse in time! Relax!

Yep, this day has been weighed, and measured, and found wanting......

So far today, I have noticed a total of 4 reported approvals here on VJ:

2/24, 3/27, 3/15, and a 3/31

My shift ends in a half hour, which means one more of those trips to the mailbox - sheez.

Here's to Hope for tomorrow :)

And to this I say... it's better than 1...or none! =)

They only have so many officers to look at cases and they don't deal with just i129f petitions. It's very unrealistic to think that all petitions sent at the same day would be adjudicated at the same day. They are reviewed by different officers, who may be slower, more thorough, have a heavier workload, take sick days... you name it.

I think my officer took FMLA for a few months after he got the box with my case in it.  ahahahahaha

So I have a question. After they receive your RFE documents back to the service center. How long does it take for them to review your case again? I finally got something in the mail and it feels so good!!! Next for the approval. One day closer.

You're in a very good place. I dumped the database for March and the median number of days between RFE sent and NOA2 issued for every case was just 7 days, and the longest was 12.

Now that doesn't include cases where no NOA2 has been issued yet, but it's still a better place to be than no RFE or NOA2.

About half the RFEs from June don't have a NOA2 yet, so they haven't escaped the nonsense delays, but

given a choice between an RFE and the hell of only having a NOA1 after 134 days, I'd jump at an RFE!

Some variation is to be expected, I agree, but you also end up with crazy situations like this one where the delays appear to be completely unjustified where the inquiry triggers processing (meaning that they weren't waiting on a background check when the inquiry came in.)

Here's another horrific timeline that just leaves you scratching your head about how a RFE happens seven months later when there's non-expedited cases from March with completed interviews.

They're people and there are human errors. When there's such discrepancy, being out of processing time, it's best to make sure and contact them, the case file could've been misplaced, lost or simply just forgotten. Until it's past processing time, though, I think it's premature to be desperate. Just a couple years ago people were waiting a year, so anything right now it's way better.
