So... the most unexpected thing ever has just happened...

My fiance and I are video chatting and he just received a whole package from UCSIS!! We were both super excited as he opened it to find a letter saying:

"This office is unable to accept and process the correspondence or information that you submitted.

  • Received an empty envelope from this return address"

accompanying the the letter was the envelope we sent our I-129F package in, its n tatters and is ripped open and obviously empty...

So as well as having to start over, my fiance is now at risk of his identity being stolen!

Obviously have called the bank to put a freeze on the account, what else should he do?!

That is so devastating. At least us having to make copies of everything makes it relatively easy to turn the packet back around but any extra days in this process is just heartbreaking.  Hang in there, you two!  I really hope there will be no trouble with his sensitive information.

OMG.. Mojordan, I'm so sorry this has happened to you and your fiance! I'm so glad y'all aren't giving up in the face of adversity and staying positive.

Only things I can suggest are calling the bank to close his accounts and reopen new ones, calling lifelock if he has that service and calling the authorities so he can make a report stating his information was stolen/lost and if anything pops up on his credit he can dispute it with that report.

Please let us know if you need anything else. We're here to support you!

bank called, lifelock called, and I will tell him to call the authorities too! very good point, Thanks, CubaAndChill!

Right, so I'm like 99% sure I did everything right, but apparently the universe thinks I should take another stab at it.

Do any of you have any words of wisdom to impart on me? What would you do differently if given the chance??

Its mostly a matter of printing, binding, tabbing and post-it-ing (for fiance to know exactly where to sign)... so hopefully I can get it all done and to the courier within the next 3 hours

I believe so. I would date them as close to the interview as possible so it's not outdated. That's one of the last things I'm going to receive, but I've gotten my W-2s for the past 3 years with the tax statements. All I need is the job letter and my banks letter, hopefully Chase will be able to give me something like that; if not then I'll just print out my deposit statements from my bank and also my oldest bank statement from when the account was opened.

Thanks CubaAndChill! Is your fiance staying in the US till you guys get the noa2? I'm asking that because I have a silly question but I honestly don't know the answer to it. Once my fiance gets the noa2, should he mail me the original forms (i-864) and docs (w2 with tax statements, job and bank letter) or can he just scan them all and email them to me? Thanks!

Unfortunately, no.. Cubans aren't allowed to visit the U.S. that easily. He needs to have a family member that basically sends a letter of invitation and all kind of stuff. But, he's in Argentina for work and will be back in July.

I believe it's the I-134 updated form that needs to be filled out along with all the docs to go along with it. Just to be safe, I would have him mail all the originals and also make a copy just in case of anything. And, if I remember correctly the I-134 needs a wet signature, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I read in another thread this week that they do want a wet signature, so I'm pretty sure that's the case.

My bad! I get confused with all those forms. You're right, it's the i-134. Okay so I will ask him to mail them to me as soon as we get the noa2. Thank you so much for your help, CubaAndChill!

It's okay. I saw him in Feb and then I'm going out there in Sept/Oct for the interview and to spend about a month with him and his family and see some of my family too. It's hard not being able to be close but I'm sure everyone here can sympathize. Hopefully if everything goes smoothy we can all be with our loves by Thanksgiving, if not earlier, and then we'll have a whole lifetime to be close to them. Thank you! I hope yours goes smoothly as well!

Oh! That's awesome!

I wish my fiance could come for the interview, but he's just started a new job and is already taking time off for our wedding in Brazil, so we need to wait just 7 more months. We will be celebrating our wedding during Thanksgiving weekend, so all good!

I'm so sorry to read mojordan's story :(
Hopefully it will all be fixed and the petition can go out again and succeed.

My highest boss knows now. It was a shaky situation yesterday, walking in her office and say the words "I will quit!"... Although I'm looking forward it's very, very hard.
But the reaction was all I could wish for. <3

Don't you - I mean the other beneficiaries for now - feel as under pressure to get rid of everything like I do?
It's overwhelming for me. I need to sell all my stuff... and I got  A LOT. I don't know what to do when... if I wouldn't need the money, I'd gladly throw everything in a trash container! :D

How are you working around? Anyone emptiying his/her home already?

Have a great evening, guys and girls!
Bine
