He has spoken to lifelock, Im not sure if he had a pre-existing plan with them but apparently he needs to call the FBI now (Atleast we can say we've done that now! haha)

Worst thing is, we did send it in a cardboard envelope that said 'DO NOT BEND', and payed extra for the super priority, tracked for, signed for, etc (it was supposed to only take 5 days, but end up taking 11 in the end anyway)

Does any one else think its a little odd that someone from a government organisation would sign for tampered mail? Surely they shouldn't sign for it if its clearly tampered with??

My guess is they may sign for a bunch of them all at once and it might have just been in a pile of other packages. Someone posted their delivery info and it was literally the exact same as mine (package delivered at XX:XX AM signed by X - same exact time and person's name) so I'm thinking they might have a bunch of them which someone signs for. That's the only reason I can think of someone signing for it if it appeared to be clearly tampered with, maybe it just didn't get discovered until it went for processing. And even if it did get noticed by the person who signed for it I'm not sure what else they could have done besides returning it to sender.

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

That is so heartbreaking. I'm so sorry. I can't think of anything else he should do other than get to working on putting together a new packet so you guys can get it sent ASAP and not lose too much time on your journey. Good luck!!! Maybe if you no longer have originals of some things you can just include the copies (if you took them...hopefully) of everything other than his original signature on the i-129f and put a note explaining why they are copies then advise that you can provide re-created originals if requests...or something along those lines. Ugh again I'm so sorry!! :( Sending positive vibes your way.

Thank you, trying to keep positive through this.

If we don't laugh, we'll cry (We've taken turns doing both lol)

We sent copies of everything, I scanned in everything and put together almost like a PDF 'story of us' booklet, so all I need to do it print it out again and sign whatever and I'm gonna FedEx it to him on priority (not trusting Royal Mail or USPS again lol)

Hopefully we'll it'll be in the hands of USCIS by the end of this week. Do you think I should include a short letter explaining this situation to them with the package?

Also, there wasn't too much of my information in the package (I'm the Beneficiary) other than the usual stuff like name, bday, SSN (G-325A), should I call the social security office or something??

He's the one whose most at risk, copies of his passport, birth certificate and banking info was in the package

That's a good point. I'm gonna have to call the Royal Mail and USPS in the morning and try to track down at what point this happened. Super annoyed! I'll feel much better if someone at the mailing offices can tell me they've found it down the back of a table or something.

I know, no chance of that happening though...

Oh wow!! what a crazy trip your package went on...who knows what the heck (or how) that happened!

I am not sure what the rules are, but yeah it seems pretty common logic that they wouldn't accept tampered with mail. Sometimes I wonder what logic they follow at USCIS because it doesn't seem to be complete common...

Thats the plan. We sent via royal mail originally because it costs upwards of £60 to fedex of ups from the UK.. however its looking like I'm gonna have to pay that regardless now, plus whatever else to get it from california to uscis

So... the most unexpected thing ever has just happened...

My fiance and I are video chatting and he just received a whole package from UCSIS!! We were both super excited as he opened it to find a letter saying:

"This office is unable to accept and process the correspondence or information that you submitted.

  • Received an empty envelope from this return address"

accompanying the the letter was the envelope we sent our I-129F package in, its n tatters and is ripped open and obviously empty...

So as well as having to start over, my fiance is now at risk of his identity being stolen!

Obviously have called the bank to put a freeze on the account, what else should he do?!

OMG.. Mojordan, I'm so sorry this has happened to you and your fiance! I'm so glad y'all aren't giving up in the face of adversity and staying positive.

Only things I can suggest are calling the bank to close his accounts and reopen new ones, calling lifelock if he has that service and calling the authorities so he can make a report stating his information was stolen/lost and if anything pops up on his credit he can dispute it with that report.

Please let us know if you need anything else. We're here to support you!

So is anyone else thinking that once they get through the December back log from the holidays that they timeframe may decrease ?

I truly hope so! I'm hoping that once they get through all the packets that were sent in a hurry before the fees changed, that it'll increase the pace they go through the rest.

Wow! That's amazing. I should ask my fiance to do that too. At least get the letter from his job and the bank statement. But I wonder if those things should be dated past June/2017 (since that's when we should get our NOA2), or if it could be dated before that. Any thoughts?

I believe so. I would date them as close to the interview as possible so it's not outdated. That's one of the last things I'm going to receive, but I've gotten my W-2s for the past 3 years with the tax statements. All I need is the job letter and my banks letter, hopefully Chase will be able to give me something like that; if not then I'll just print out my deposit statements from my bank and also my oldest bank statement from when the account was opened.
