We are 109 days from notice date and 112 days from received. But I am not worried anymore because it is in God's hands and it will happen when it needs to happen. That thought lifted a weight from both me and my fiance's shoulders. We feel less stressed now and happier. As for the background checks both him and I have very common first and last names and moved a lot. LOL So they must be having fun with us. I know when I go to get my police criminal check next week I will probably get told it will be a longer check because of my name. However my middle name is very very unique and wouldn't normally go with my common first and last names so that should help a bit.

I think I will stick around again now that my head is in a better place and a smile is back on my face. HUGS everyone still waiting and those that already are on their way to the next stage. Life is wonderful and life is what we make of it.

I'm glad you're feeling better, dear!
There's nothing you can do anyway... stay shiny and wait for it! It will come, sooner or later!

Feel hugged!

I also have to say I don't understand all that obsession with credit in the US, and I really need to change my mindset when it comes to that. I never use my credit card, because I like to control my expenses paying mostly with cash or debit card, since that's automatically deducted. I plain hate credit cards, but they seem to be somehow mandatory there!

Same here. I guess that's a difference in European/American mentality.
I do have a credit card, but it's only for emergencies or sudden expenses and for travelling.

Here in Germany you even have stores where you can only pay cash up to 10 or 20 €.

I'll have to get used to using cards as well... I keep loosing track, even if I write down what I spend.

Maybe you guys can give me some insight. I filed in March for my fiance in Costa Rica and received the NOA1 on March 9th. However I have not received the NOA2 yet and when I called to ask about it, I was told that they are on January 15th applications, and once March applications are processed I will get a letter of acceptance that I will be transfered. And it can take up to 30-90 days or even 3 months for my fiance to get the visa. And we actually have our wedding planned for October 7th here. I am so confused and sad right now. Anything will help. Thank you!

I know this is one of those things I'm OCD about, but I like my bank statement showing exactly the right amount of what's available there :P

I'm cancelling my credit card here before moving. I guess I'll need one there anyway 😒

So first thing you should do is check India USEM website to find the specific information on next steps or find other people that's going through the process there for accurate information.

Anyway, yes, I think your fiance can get the police clearance certificate already. You can start working on the DS160 anytime. Get all the additional documents ready, like the beneficiary's birth certificate and i-134.

Not sure how the medical works there, but remember the visa will be valid for 6 months after the date in which you have the medical.

It's important to wait until the Embassy contacts you to proceed, and you can also call NVC to get your case number to track your petition on its way to the Embassy.

We are credit card dependent in Canada as well it seems. After getting in credit card debt when I was 20 I vowed to never ever ever get one again but I needed one once my fiance and I got together as its easier to pay for flights etc. So ironic. I didn't think anyone would give me a credit card since my credit rating was tanked but apparently after paying my debts off I managed to climb back into the fair range. My credit card can be transferred to the us since they have a us company too. I have a low credit amount which is all I want. I pay it off every month. I never want to get into debt again. Having constant calls from debt collectors cures you of that or at least it did me. My fiance and I will use the credit card in emergencies but it will mostly just sit there. I will use it once a month and pay it off immediately though so that I can build my credit rating. When I travel to visit my fiance I just get a bunch of american money from my bank and use that. They do look at you funny when you always pay in cash. LOL On a side note we have three businesses in my little town in Manitoba that only take cash.
