The thought we don't get approved honestly scares me to death,we don't have a back up plan yet 😔, my fiance can't move over to UK as I fall well short of earning enough to bring her over here so if I'm refused I will be devastated 😔

Don't worry!! There really isn't a need for a back-up plan since the process is pretty straightforward for couples who have a legit relationship. I was just curious if other couples discuss it much and have other plans or not. But denials are not common and I've read UK is a really good/easy embassy too. I'm sure you and all of us will get approved!!

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

Happy Monday! Finally caught up on all the posts for the last few days...I have a rule to myself that I won't check this site over the weekend since I already obsessively check too much during the week. haha. Friday/Saturday were rough days for me though. I was really sad missing my fiance, broke down crying with him on the phone/FaceTime which I haven't done in awhile. He was also having a stressful few days with work and family stuff so it made it more difficult...we hate not being able to be there for each other to help out with simple things.

On the bright side, it's now been 3 months since I mailed my petition and it felt like this day would never come. Hopefully our NOA2 is on its way soon. I'm actually going to visit my fiance in India on Sept 1st for FIVE WEEKS so I'm counting down to that instead of worrying about the wait for the NOA2. It definitely makes it easier. I'm just stressing about it because I really want things to get done before then so we can schedule his interview for when I will be there. The ultimate dream would be for him to get approved in time to fly back with me in October, but I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for that.

Random thoughts...do any of you have a back-up plan? One of my friends asked me over the weekend what we would do if his visa doesn't get approved. For us, it's simple. I will move there in a heartbeat. That was our original plan anyway, but we decided to go this route instead so he can come to the US for awhile to meet all of my friends/family and so we can save a bit more money. And we knew that if I go there first it will be 100x more difficult for us to both come back here later. We know for sure that we will settle there eventually because he is the eldest son and we will need to care for his parents. So for us it wouldn't be the end of the world if the K1 wasn't approved, although I have no reason to believe it won't be. But it got me wondering about what if we didn't have a back-up plan. I guess it would be to get married and file for the spouse visa? Personally, I'm the kind of person who always prepares for the worst case scenario so just wondering if anyone else is the same way. Or if anyone else is not planning on staying in the U.S. forever and plans on moving to the foreign fiance's home country some day?

Yay! I know your NOA2 is right around the corner!! :)

I would LOVE to move to Peru and would do so in a heartbeat! But, logistically and financially it is not our best option.  Though, we definitely would like to retire there in the future. We also have discussed moving to Canada as another option.

We have talked about this also and he really would like me to go there, but I have much more family then he does (and the few family members that he does have, he is not close with) and I feel like I need to stay close to them, so we have also talked about moving to Canada since all of my mom's side of the family is there and they are only 8 hours north of where I am now, so I would still be semi close to my parents... closer then being in Romania anyhow. He has his mom, and his brother (that he doesn't get along with that well - the brother) and his aunt and cousin that he never talks to. I hope that doesn't make me selfish for feeling that way, but I can't help feeling that if I were to go there, not only would I not know anyone, I don't know the language and I just feel like I would not have any kind of support system there and I think it would just be VERY difficult.

I don't think that makes you selfish at all. I think it's completely reasonable and makes sense. It would be super difficult to go to another country where you don't know the language on top of not having your family and support system. If he already doesn't have that himself then it's not unreasonable for the best choice to be for him to come here instead. I totally get that.

For me I have only a few family members here in the U.S...I am super close with them (mom/sister), but he has a HUGE family in India and family is so important to his culture. He has the responsibility of being the one who will need to take care of his parents and I've known that from the beginning. It's a compromise that I'm willing to make by settling there eventually because we will have a massive support system with his family. Plus I LOVE India, it's weird but I feel more at home there than I do here in the states. Plus it's much easier for my small family to visit me in India than it would be for his huge family to ever visit us in the U.S.
