Hey guys, so I received my letter for RFE. Two of the things are simple. They need a copy of my "long form" birth document or a copy of my pasaporte. Check. I forgot to answer a "yes or no" question. Check.

The thing that has me puzzled is that they want "Circumstances of Meeting". It says "Submit information regarding the circumstances under which you and beneficiary met to establish the relationship. (How were you and beneficiary first introduced?". What all do I need for this part? How long does my statement need to be? What else is required?

Hey @Jd209 I'm just gonna chime in on the circumstances of meeting. If the RFE document specifically mentioned "How were you and the beneficiary was first introduced?" then you'll need to state how you first got to know each other followed by your in-person meetings.

In our application, we personally did not mention that other than simply stating the 3 in-person meetings that we had. It was very straightforward with no long love story because we just didn't want them to pick our application apart. Thankfully we got our NOA2 just fine. The following is how I composed ours:

****

Petitioner name: [name]

Beneficiary name: [name]

A-number: None

Dear Sir/Madam,

Continuation Sheet for Form I-129F: Part 2, Item Number 34.a. Describe the circumstances under which you met.

*** do not forget to add how you initially got to know each other since your RFE asks for it.

My Alien Fiancée, [name] traveled to the U.S. for a holiday. We spent time together in [city/any other location] from [date] to [date].

Subsequently, she and I visited my family in [city] and also spent more time together in [city/any other location] from [date] to [date].

For our third meeting, I visited her in[city]. We spent time together from [date] to [date]. Additionally, I met her sister as well as her close friends.

Circumstances of Meeting used to be question 34 in the old i-129F form. If you didn't put anything there, then that explains it.

My fiance wrote a 1 page statement explaining both, how we met initially and also circumstances of in person meetings up to filing date and how we decided to get married and why we were pursuing the visa.

I've seen other people saying they explained how they met in just a couple sentences. But definitely you should have put something there.

I also think this part is what causes RFE for some people related to websites like OKCupid being IMBRA or not, so it makes sense they ask?

That's the only thing that might have caused a RFE for us as well. Because we kept it with one sentence there.
Would not be a big deal to write an "essay" to submit after RFE, but still.
I've heard of others who just kept it with one sentence (It said we met in Germany 2015 while he was stationed.), who got approved (that was a military one I talked to).
So we'll see :D

Have a great day/night everyone! :)
