We kind of have the same "problem".

Our options are:

Courthouse Virginia Beach
Beach, Virginia Beach (unlikely, since it's later fall)
Las Vegas, biggest giant wheel in the world (my fave hehe)

My family is in Germany, my friends are spread all over Germany (so it would be a pain to gather them even if we'd get married here), his family is in Utah, his friends in Virginia Beach.

So most likely we're going to try pick up his parents and sister and do a road trip from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas.

Since it's too expensive to gather everybody/fly all in.... why not get married in FL on the beach and make a party later?
I think everyone will understand, in consideration of the circumstances. At least in our case people do understand.

Michelle: I think we have the same problem too. My family is easy because I didn't really expect my extended family to be with me. Just my parents and sister will do. Now, his family and friends are spread all over the states. So we haven't quite figured out what to do. But I really don't like a huge wedding.

Look at you go, March Wedding Planners!:)

I told Eric the other day that I would sound suspicious at the interview with our "play it by ear" attitude:)

We haven't made any plans yet except a big picnic in the park for his family and friends next summer. As for the wedding itself, we have no idea what we want other than finally be together. Anyway, we should follow your example and come up with something more or less certain.

Hah, indeed. With our tradition of celebrating my birthday there and my future in laws living in Red Rock, sure enough we'll be visiting often :)

The contrast with Utah is nice for a change, but as I said before somewhere, Utah is great to live at and people there is so nice.

I feel you!
My fiance has the same leave problem. He was actually trying to visit in late April, but he never got it confirmed, so we will wait now until I come for good and use the leave he has for getting married and spend some days with his family!

4 weeks don't sound that bad to me :)

My fiance has a little bit over two weeks vacation a year, so sure that makes visiting hard to plan so it's worthy. We are planning on him coming after I have my Visa on hand and hopefully coming back together to the States to start our new life together finally :)

Good we don't care about big weddings so no need for a lot of preparation and also won't have a honeymoon. It's simply impossible in terms of time.

Wow, I feel so lucky and spoiled! I get about 5-6 weeks of vacation time per year. I'm actually going to visit my fiance for a month in September, but 2 weeks will be unpaid leave since I already used a lot of my time visiting him in January. It will be tough to lose out on an entire paycheck, but definitely worth it. It will be my third time going to India in just less than a year. It's crazy how much we can accomplish with the power of love! haha.

Good luck to you both!! :)

And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

He proposed to me at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs and we are thinking of getting married there as well. It will only be him and I, my friend from Denver, and a couple of his friends. My Mum might come if she can but we plan on having a party later next year where my family can come down. Although my sister says she refuses to come to the states under the current administration. lol My sister-in-law who just passed her Canadian citizenship has never been to the states and looks forward to visiting me and Chris eventually.

I never been to red rock. I only been here for 2 years so have not explored this area enough. It is a really nice state to live in. It's not like back east but it's still nice out here

Hi there, just wondering if anyone besides myself has fiancé in Abu Dhabi? I'm frustrated that the internet has been down since Sunday it's difficult enough this process and waiting but to not have one message, email or skype due to internet problems really sucks. This seems to happen a lot. Does anyone or has anyone experienced this?

:ranting:

@Ladystarlight you should download 'what's app' app. It's a lot better than skype and easier to use!! You can message and video call each other!! My fiancé is in India and we always use it and it works great 🙂

Thank you! When I speak to my fiancé again I will let him know we have so many video/chat apps lol none of them seem to work all that well. We will give What's App a try :)

My fiance is in India too!! :) We also use Whatsapp for voice calls and messaging. We use Facetime for video instead since the quality seems to be better than Whatsapp video.

If you are in United States and your fiancé in India isn't it expensive to use FaceTime?
