Administrative Processing? Any Ideas?

Does anyone know of 'administrative processing'? Has anyone experienced such a scenario with their case? My wife had her interview for the K3 on 12/1/2006 and is yet to receive her visa. We have been told that her case is under 'adminsistrative processing' since the end of December 2006. Today I called USCIS and they informed me that this should never have happened and that all background checks happen PRIOR to the interview. Any responses, personal experiences and advice are welcome! Thanks and good luck to all of you!

According the what I've read, AP is where they do background checks, namechecks, FBI checks, etc...

A few members have received an approval at the interview pending AP. Some had to wait just like you, nearly forever sometimes. Contact USCIS, or the Consulate, or possibly communicate this with your congressman. Many have talked to their congressman about this too, maybe it'll speed up the process.

You need to go to the Islamabad forum and look at the posts on AP. It has been happening to men and now a few ladies as well. It is a dark hole and it means the embassy is verifying some type of information.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

consolemaster,

I was afraid that might be your source. Don't worry about not remembering the thread.

Thank you for the quick response.

Yodrak,

My source is from here. I wish I remembered that thread. I think it was in the Foreign Embassy category.

I don't know why they would tell you that it's not supposed to happen. It happens all the time! For an Egyptian for example, if you are a man and a muslim it is routine that you have your interview and then wait approx 4+ months for this Administrative Processing to happen. For some it went over a year and for the lucky ones it was only a few months.

Just breath in and out and be thankful that she is a woman since normally that means a lesser wait. Hang in there, join that islamabad thread (hope I spelled that right) and hang out at MENA if you want to read more about this type of thing.
