I have a question about when filing for the removal of conditions on permanent residence for my husband. When he came here, to the U.S, we found out that he possibly has a child with his ex girlfriend from when he was here before. We kind of knew but we weren't sure if it was just rumors. Its a long story but the short version is that the ex girlfriend filed paper work with child support recovery and my husband was served. Now, in the next few days, we have to send the paper in to request a paternity test to find out for sure. My question is will it effect my husband at all when we have to file have to file to remove conditions of his resident status? Also, is there anything that the ex girlfriend can do, like contact the immigration office, to make them not approve his request to remove the conditional resident status? I am so scared that something is going to happen to mess up everything we have worked so hard to get. Please help me

Get the test done first. If it is his, then the child support recovery and I assume "owed" technically money could affect you and him in the sense of the financial portion....

Assuming the child wasn't born during your relationshop with him or anything, it shouldn't cause an overall problem about your marriage and all.

I would get the test done and confirmed one way or the other first, then go from there honestly. (plus if it is his, you might need to talk with him about contact with the child, plus your involvement, if you even want any, that should be first thoughts).

Thanks. Thats what we r going to do. Ask for paternity test 1st. And i talked to child support recovery a while back and asked them about him having to pay back child support if it is his daughter and they said the furthest they can go back is when he got his social security number. So about 1 year ago. But they usually just go back to when she applied for child support, which was in August 2016. But thanks for ur help.
