(K1) - Two Sealed Envelopes from Consulate?

HI fellow VJers! 

 

I have a quick question regarding two sealed envelopes we received from the Chilean consulate after our K1 approval. One is the big, sealed manila envelope and the other is a sealed, white envelope that reads "Copy of Medical". From our conversations with Consulate, the sealed manila envelope is for CBP (at POE) and the white envelope from when she "eventually adjusts status". I've tried asking for more detailed responses, but to no avail. Hopefully, some Chilean VJ'ers can chime in!

 

  1. Big Manila Envelope for CBP: From everything I've read, this should include all the original medical exam information so that CBP can hand it off to USCIS as to preserve chain of custody. Did any Chilean VJers / VJers ever receive a copy of the medical exam in a separate envelope? Everything should be in the big manila envelope, correct?
  2. White Envelope: What did you do with the white envelope? We were never able to get a copy of the DS-3025 from the Chilean doctor, and so we're not 100% sure if the form was completed or completed correctly. Did you open the white envelope to verify or did you send the entire sealed envelope with your I-485?

You are NOT allowed to open the medical. This would invalidate the medical. I gave both to CBP, but I did have a copy of the DS-3025. You are entitled to a copy. I would try to get one before leaving the home country. Most ppl are asked for the medical at POE, a few are not. For those who aren't, they send it at AOS, but neither should ever open the envelope.

I don't know what the Manila envelope looks like :) but yes I also received 2 envelopes and this is nothing uncommon. Perhaps ask in the PI forum if there might be 2 medicals.. but that does sound odd :)
