DS-160 Approval and ESTA

Good morning everyone,

My friend is coming to visit me for spring break from Italy and we filled out and sent a DS-160 on Friday not knowing about the existence of the ESTA form. We still haven't paid or made an appointment for the DS-160 if we try to apply for an ESTA will it make a conflict with the DS-160 application? And if the ESTA is approved can we cancel the DS-160 seeing that we haven't paid for it or made an appointment?

I would call your ambessy were you filled they ds-160 and ask them, it might not be the same for every country, so they can give you the best information.

and defenitly go with the esta if you still have that option.

a B visa is harder to get in countrys where they also give out ESTAs and if they deny the B visa, you cant get an ESTA after that anymore.

Thanks, we will call on Monday the Italian consulate. Its just that we are kinda worried because we don't know if sending the DS-160 application automatically means that it has to be processed.
