The issue I'm having is that my passport is expired. I applied to get a new one but it will take until September to receive it.

I'm now gathering all the additional evidence and will be sending it in a couple if weeks.

I know, that's why you should get a stamped I-94 instead.

You should look it up, it's the proper procedure when you have an expired passport.

My passport was expired too. Take 2 passport photos with you. They will attached it to a document half the size of a sheet of A4 they will endorse it and stamp it for you. Even when u get your new passport you can still use this document in conjunction with your passport  to enter back into the united states.

Thank you for the help. When I had my meeting in the field office nobody informed me off this option. I applied for my passport and next week I am sending the additional evidence. I hope I will hear from both applications soon so I won`t have to go back to the field office.

If I am understanding correctly you went and they refuse to give you stamp because your passport is expired?

My passport was expired and they gave me a piece of paper with I-551 stamp.

Yes. They didn't even mention that I can get proof with the stamp. They just told me to make a case inquiry and said I have zero options.

I finally heard back after three inquires and contacting my senator and congressman. I got RFE about a month ago.   Now I'm sending them extra evidence.
