hi all, i'm just wondering when it is considered okay to get congressman involved and how to go about doing that?

. we sent in our IV package october 29th, 2016

. received a checklist for my husband's passport (bollocks, since i electronically scanned my entire packet before we sent it off, and have proof of what was included in our packet!)

. resent it in anyway on january 5th

. checked the NVC website on february 18th (6 weeks after resending) to discover that the website now says 8 weeks instead of the original 6 weeks to wait.  (when did they change this???)

it is now another 2 weeks (totalling 8 weeks since we sent in checklist document), and still have heard nothing.

this is so frustrating.  march 8th marks one year since we started the application, with minimal turnover time (as in, we would fill out applications immediately, pay for items immediately to save on unnecessary wasted time on our part; the rest was all the wait time at the USCIS & NVC stage).

just wondering what i can do now, and when it is okay to contact my congressman...and if that even helps? :(

Lunchboxthermos,

Hi. i was in the same situation a week ago.  10 weeks after sending the request for further evidence (checklist) which was December 14, 2016. Yesterday we called NVC and was informed that our case was completed last Febuary 28. They said they will send me a correspondence when they have scheduled the interview.   Keep calling NVC

Hello!

Me and my husband were in exactly the same situation. Similar scan dates, we recieved a checklist on 20/01 because ' apparently' my husband left out his name on the AOS form? Which I found very hard to believe but what can I say. So we resent it and the new scan date is 25/01 and the 8 week time frame will be up tomorrow and now just reading posts apparently it's been changed to 11 weeks?!?

Like seriously had enough.. but it's like the NVC don't care? My husband got the congressman involved and his secetry will be sending the form over tomorrow on the 8 weeks that's been up.

Everytime you keep calling what do they tell you? Apparently ours is in the review department but not actually been looked at yet?

i'll try ringing them up again today, since the last time i rang was march 6th.  it's been another 2+ weeks now.  last time she just told me it was "in review" and should be case closed "soon" whatever that means. :(

i'm curious to know if contacting the congressman even works?

Up to 11 weeks. Yes. I feel it will take less let's hope for so

you mean now instead of 6 weeks (which was increased to 8 weeks sometime in january), NVC is saying all paperwork will take at least 11 weeks???

hi all, just wanted to update y'all!

finally, after 11 weeks and 1 day, i received an email notifying me that we are in the queue for our interview date.  FINALLY an official word on our visa.  this means case complete, yes?  or is it not officially case complete until after they've sent the documents to our embassy?

Wow.. congratulations... I'm in the same boat as you but my 2nd scan date is March 3 so 11 weeks for us is end of May. I used to call twice a week to get a status but since they moved to a 11 week timeframe I don't call at all anymore. Hope I can be as patient you. Again congratulations on the CC.

thank you!  ahh yes, when i found out that the new timeframe was at 11 weeks, i didn't bother calling.  but then before i knew it, i got the email.  so hang in there, it'll come when you least expect it.  both the email confirmation and the interview date set up email came on days when i was so busy with other things that i didn't even worry about it.  so that helps a lot, to know that it's out of my hands anyway, and i just need to focus on work and family and friends. :)
