Do they accept a friend as co-sponsor here in the Philippines for K1? My bf is disable and he receives SSDI about US$19,900  per year. I don't kno if SSDI is equivalent of employment income. Please enlighten me. Thanks

My fiancée is disable and receive SSDI about US$ 19,900 annually.  My question is do we need co sponsor? I have read that they don't allow co sponsor in the Philippines. His friend and ex wife is willing to help us.

That is a little short of making the 125% for the I-864P poverty guidelines.   https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Co-sponsors are accepted with the K-1 on a case by case basis.  The embassy looks more favorably on a co-sponsor if it is a close family member (parents, siblings).  Still there are no guarantees with the K-1.

With the said many times USEM is not requesting support evidence during the interview, this again is case by case.

Do be prepared with the co-sponsor you have available... just in case.

Once you get to states USCIS has no issue accepting any qualified co-sponsor.

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!

K1 does not use the I864 and it doesn't go by the 125% poverty guidelines. K1 uses an I134 and it is 100% above the poverty guidelines. From what I have read by other posters the Philippines does not normally approve cosponsors.  I could be wrong someone who went through the Philippines maybe can answer that for you. For 2 people 100% over poverty guidelines is $16,020. Good luck.

Thank you for answering my question.  I'm just praying everything will go through on my interview.

For the Philippines USEM does NOT use 100%, they use 125%, well known for USEM.

If they are not asked at USEM for support evidence, they will still need to meet the 125% require in a few months for AOS.

Sagot is right. Most times they don't ask for financials at the interview but there are exceptions, that's why we tell you to prepare your documents for the interview or face a 221g that can delay. Also the amount is based on 125% of the poverty guidelines. If you need a co-sponsor, as Sagot states, they need to be strong and close family member. This whole financial thing can be a hiccup but if your prepared, you'll sail right on through.

I noticed you have asked that question about 3 times now in different postings.  Answer is still the same.

With the K-1 visa the embassy is NOT required to accept a co-sponsor.  But it HAS become well known that the embassy gives much stronger consideration if the co-sponsor is a family member (parents, siblings, aunts/uncles).

You have now been "enlightened" one more time.. with the same information.

Income requirement is based on GROSS income, requirements are listed in the I-864P ... which I noticed you were given a link to earlier also.
