I have posed a similar question before but want absolute clarity we are doing the right thing'. A few facts:

  • My husband was born in the UK  and moved to America when he was 15 (his mom married someone in the American Military)
  • He became an American Citizen 4 years ago.
  • He has neither an American or British passport (his UK passport expired  years ago)
  • We are going to the UK on vacation  to the UK in September (he has not left the USA since he moved here 26 years ago)

So... I contacted my immigration attorney to see what passport hubby should be traveling on. He put me in touch with a reputable Immigration attorney in the UK who consulted with me for no charge. He said that technically as a UK born individual my husband should enter the UK on a UK passport and re-enter the US on a US passport. He said however, its unlikely that immigration would question him should he enter the UK on a US passport, as US citizens can visit the UK for up to 6 months without a visa. Obviously 2 passports is expensive, but I really feel that because of current travel and immigration situations going on my husband should apply for both passports and travel to the UK on a UK passport and leave on a US passport. What do you guys think?

MY quess is to travel on US passport, but that is just based on my oppinion.

What i wonder though is if i will even be posible for himm to travel back on a UK pasport. I dont knw how that is in UK, but in the Netherlands you have to be in the coutry already to get a DUtch pasport. Maybe you should you should contact the UK ambecy or city hall located in the UK, and ask them if it is possible for him to get a pasport from them wile he is out of the country.

If he cant than you will automaticly have to travel on the US pasport because you can extually get that one. and then when you are there go get the UK pasport, that is always good to have, I think you can travel to more countrys on a UK pasport then you can on a US one, and you can travel And work freely in the EU that can always be handy in the future.

omg it takes more then 2 weeks for me if i pick itup as city hall.

I would get it then even if you dont use it

Rules for beeing able to aplay for it can alsways change, If i stay out of theNetherlands fo mor then 6 consecutive months I am not able to aplay fo a pasport even if i come to the netherlands for it. If you guys are unlucky you goverment might start the same kind of polecys to help demper over population.

I think UK population is also one of the EU countrys that has a fast growth in pupolation projected right?

Getting both passports is the best he can do. He will have to carry both passports when traveling.Show US passport when boarding the plane, then show UK passport when arriving at border control once in London airport. The opposite when leaving UK towards the US.

The UK passport will make it easier for him to travel within Europe, and other countries such as Brazil, for example (US citizens need a visa while UK citizens not).

He should enter and depart UK on the British passport.  To enter USA on the American passport. The wife should be careful, if her husband is British she might be refused entry into UK. (It happen to my friend}

That doesn't even make sense...How can I be denied entry to the UK as his wife when I am a UK national? I have a UK passport.
