My question is when filling out the I-130 for my 30 year old unmarried daughter who has a 5 year old daughter. I know on part C question 17 to list grand-daughter there. Do I need to do anything else separate for grand-daughter or will my daughter have to apply for her at some point when she gets approved. My wife (green Card) is petitioning for her daughter who has a daughter.

nothing else for now, her granddaughter is a derivative, there will be separate paperwork for her at the nvc stage close to their priority date, which could be in 6 or more years

as long as she is under 21 and unmarried, the granddaughter is eligible to come with her mom as her derivative

We applied for the CR-1 visa for daughter single daughter over 21..We know it will take 6 or 7 years. The 2 question I have are

1. Is the priory date set now that that have her application? Or after they approve it?

2. I see we have the WAC********** number so it was sent to California service center. I looked on the USCIS site and it looks California is slowest to approve children over 21, looks like they are working on May 2015 applications. Will this effect the clock on the 6tp7 year wait?

1. Priority date is already set in your I-797C Notice of Action (in Received Date field).

2. It doesn't matter in which service center your petition will be proceeded, it might take 1 or 2 years to get approved. You still have to wait when your Priority Date will become current (~7 years), for that Check Visa bulletin each month.
