I think every sovereign country should control it's borders. Europe would not have the problems it has now a well as the US if they all did 

Oh okay, it just kind of sounded like you felt as if Europe should give Americans a free ride in without vetting just because of us helping them out in WWII. Like ya know, they owe us one r'somthing.

 

Btw, when you over-simplify history you often miss out on the finer nuances and contributions that make up the big picture.

I think this would be very bad for the EU economy and  especially for the countries who have large tourism sectors. In my opinion this would kill the French tourism business which is already suffering because of the terrorist attacks. Guess it's time to send in  my paperwork to the French gov. for a visa de long sejour (long stay visa).

There is always a good debate about the 'what ifs' from WWII.  If the Japanese hadn't galvanized the US through their attack on Pearl Harbor, who knows what would have happened?  A lot of things were going on all over the map, and the discussion regarding going after the USSR is really not relevant as Hitler did this even before the US entered the war.  The question is would Germany have come up with the ABomb themselves if the war lasted longer.  I think if it did, Hitler wouldn't have hesitated using it on either London or Moscow or both.

Then your post made no sense at all.  You said if it weren't for the French (paraphrasing) implying that we would still be under British rule without the French help during the American Revolution.  Yes, the French intervention played a huge role, but the people living at that time were in fact speaking English, so what would they be speaking if the French didn't intervene?  It is just a guess, but I think it would be English.

Actually it is not as you said it would have taken Hitler longer to invade the Soviet Union (paraphrasing).  Since Hitler invaded the Soviet Union six months prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, how would the US not joining the war have impacted that decision?
