Possible need for visa to visit Europe by USC?

Read this article. Thoughts? says it may require us citizens to get a visa to visit Europe soon.

Interesting article.  I guess it is a bit of #######-for-tat as the article mentioned.  I always wonder, do we treat each EU country individually, or as one?  On a personal level, since I have no desire at all to go to Europe, I could care less.  We always fly through China when we go to Russia.

I'm sure Europeans will be besides themselves, wondering why you aren't gracing them with a visit.  European women, especially I'm sure.

Would hurt tourist-dependent countries (quite a few European countries rely heavily on tourism), and with our current tyrant of a president, I'm sure he'll retaliate and end the VWP for Europeans. :/ don't see any good outcome

Congress would be the ones to change the immigration regulations surrounding VWP, etc., most probably.

We graced them with a visit in the early 40's or they would all be speaking German right now

Graced us with a visit? You were forced into the war by the Japanese... You joining just gave the war a quicker end. Without you it would have just taken slightly longer before Hitler decided to try and take down the Soviet and get crushed.

I think winning WWII, would have taken a great deal longer, with even more loss of life and brutality, had our European allies also not significantly contributed. Too often Americans make quick glib comments as if we were the sole winner and hero of WWII. Well that's not the way my grandfather saw it, from firsthand experience.

Were you there? You can diss them all you'd like, but without our Commonwealth allies and several other contributing historical factors, things would have been very different indeed.

 

Do you think the EU countries should be able to control their borders, or do we always get a visa-free pass for 'reasons'?

If Normandy wouldn't have happened Soviet would still have crushed them because Hitler really wanted to crush the Soviet but the Soviet was bad ###.

All I can think of when I heard this is how it will hurt Europe and not help them. A number of people from the USA travel to Europe every year for vacation and this would just hinder them, thus leading them to travel else where.

I wasnt there when the Titanic sunk , but I pretty much know what happened.  SHM

 

I think every sovereign country should control it's borders. Europe would not have the problems it has now a well as the US if they all did
