Guess i am jumping the gun but my NVC CC has really excited me as additionally the UAE embassy waiting time has suddenly dropped from 8 to 2 months for interview.  I had resigned to this finishing around our second aniversarry.

if i get an extra month with hubby will happily go before.

But for technicality and practicality trying to be aware how this works.

1. is it the visa issue date or the date of entry date thats considered to work out if marriage is two years or less?

2. One of my daughter's may not be able to move immediately as she will need to finish her school year.  Can she land in the US return for 5 to 6 months to UAE to finish her year and then come over to the US.  Or should i ask them to hold issuing her visa?  Earlier we thought this was going to take longer so we sent papers for all to NVC.

3. Given logistics i may need to go a month before the kids.  Is it okay for kids to fly on their own with a new visa (15,11 yrs)?

4. Last, but really first question (!!) we got a chklst email, but it says to take docs to interview and that a date will be scheduled.  Also have 3 n/a.  This is a CC RIGHT?

5. Actually one more question! What are packets3 amd 4 and how do they get sent?

Answers:

  1. entry date
  2. She can enter the US and then return to finish school.  To avoid the potential for hassles, time her return to be less than 6 months.  Otherwise, delay the visa until she finishes school.
  3. Check airline polices.
  4. Appears to be.
  5. Old terminology, disregard it.

Excuse too many questions in recent times.  The NVC CC for me and the sudden shortening of intw waiting time from 8 months to about 2-3 months for Abu Dhabi has meant I am quickly planning an early exit.  As there's business, cars, rental home, projects, kids schools, banking stuff, insurance etc to sort.  I am trying to cover diff angles asap.  I am only glad to leave earlier but the recent plans including loans were based on me being here in the UAE for longer - so back to the drawing board now.

Question:

I am considering putting on hold the file for one of my daughter's as she is in a critical year in school and can't leave mid-year really.  If she then gets her visa and enters two year after my marriage with her step father (USC) will she get a 2 year of 10 year GC?

What year is your daughter in school?  School year in US typically starts in beginning of September and ends at end of May or sometime in June.  I guess it is different at Emirates.  Also, it is not a good idea to make any big decisions before you have the visa in your hand.
