Hello! I have so many questions! and my lawyer does not have the answer to them (so frustrating!)

I am a permanent resident. My husband overstayed for many years and left the country. We got married in Bolivia, we have a 4 year old son. my husband is currently in Brazil waiting for his interview (The American Embassy just asked for his criminal record clearance letter last week so we are very hopeful!).

My questions are:

-How does he get notified about when his interview is?

-How much time after he has his interview scheduled does he have to get the medical exams done?

-I won't be there when he has his interview. Will that affect the process in any way?

-He most likely will be denied the visa and we have the waiver ready to send it. How does the waiver process work in Brazil? how long after the visa denial is my husband notified he applies for the waiver and what is the process like? Does he personally send it? or our lawyer from here (Chicago). and where to? in Brazil? or in the US?

-About how long does the waiver application and response take?

I am so desperate! :( I can't sleep!

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I can only help you with 2 of your questios:  - Back when I was living in Brazil, I had to send an email to the Embassy in Rio and they would reply with our date for Interview (it was in 2012 - so I dont know if it changed since then), and I had my exams appointment around 20 days since I got that email.
