I sent my husband case to NvC on May 9 and it was case complete on June 14 and NVC sent me an email for awaiting an interview in Malaysia. I been reading that they been giving out visas for close family ties. I know a few Yemeni families who got their visa after the ruling.

Can you please advise which visa category theygot the visa for? Did they go through a waiver process?

Their visa should print 'Presidential Proclamation Waived" if they actually got a waiver. Otherwise they got it via some other means. If it does say that, do you know if they have any exceptions (like medical conditions)_

Do they not have to go through the waiver process? Or is every embassy different?

I haven’t been through that step yet. Everything is so new. I think we are all confused with what will happened and what we should do and how we should do it with the waiver process. I believe u read under NVC that a consular officer will let the person being interviewed know that they are or not eligible for a waiver. You can not get a visa without a waiver.  So I believe after the interview that’s when they will tell you. I don’t know I’m not sure.

The friends and family that got the waiver for the visa were a spouse and children. Close family ties

Yes it definitely is confusing now.  I think the embassy requests waivers For Close family ties aka spouses, parents, & children of US Citzens, also I don’t know if they’ll actually get approved or not?!

I'm sorry for keeping at this. But does their visa say "Presidential proclamation waived"? We're there any exceptional conditions like medical conditions etc?

Just so you know what this looks like here is a visa issued after a waiver:

Note that this one is a B1/B2, but it says "Presidential Proclamation Waived"

Asaalam Alkium..I’m looking for attorney in Michigan. Anyone on here hire Julie Goldberg to help with the waiver process?

I have met with Julie. I have seen pictures on her phone with approved visas that say "Presidentail Proclamation Waived". She seems confident she can get the waivers. She has sued the govt here: https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/24314855/Alharbi_et_al_v_Miller_et_al and the last entry on the case seems to say Plaintiffs have gotten releif which means the govt issued their waivers.

On her facebook page, there seem to be multiple people who show their visas:

Her fees are rather high, but she is the most optimistic attorneys I have talked to. Multiple other attorneys have discouraged me from even trying to apply.

She will be in Dearborn tomorrow, and she does a free intial consultation. If you want you should talk to her. Her office was jam packed with mostly Yemeni people.

I must add though - someone brought this to my attention - the lawsuit mentioned above is only for those who got approved before the ban went into affect. Here is the news article. http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-metro-brooklyn-judge-orders-visas-yemeni-nationals-20180601-story.html

Another lawyer who i spoke with about a month ago - said none of her clients (about 30) have so far received waivers, but this was a month ago. Another lawyer said 3 of his 150 clients had receieved waivers - this was 2 weeks ago.

Good luck, please dont forget to update the thread as to what happened. One of my biggest frustrations is how little information we share - there are thousands of us but so few actually post their updates - we know for a fact there are 800 waivers and there are numerous people who have gotten visas printed after waivers, but there is absolutely no way to know the circumstances under which those waivers were approved.

My cousins were part of Julie's case when the federal judge in New York stated that the families of her case have to be given visas since they were approved. They left for America 2 weeks ago. I contacted Julie and she said she would put me in her second case at the courts. Till now we haven't gotten any updates. Also maktab Mubarak sent out information about filing a case this week the same one as Julie did for anyone who had their cases approved before  dec 2017 but was denied. They said you can contact them for any information

Julie asked my family for double the amount that maktab marhaba asked for. It’s the same lawsuit and both lawyers are working together, just each lawyer has their separate clients.
