How were the appointments today?

Expand

?My brother supposed to have his interview today, and again they said he was missing a police record. although he was only in Djibouti for two weeks, and you're not required to have police records if you're in the country less than 6 months. Plus, Yemenis police records are not obtainable according NVC webpage. This second time, they asked something was not on the checklist they gave to him. have to hope for reschedule for next week.

Mashallah, Congrats.. can you please provide us with little details of how it went? the documents he submitted?

Expand

Thank you!

he submitted birth certificate of our son, marriage record and contract, the originals and English translate. He also submitted an unexpired police record, also translated. He gave them more photos of our wedding of our son and recent photos of me and my son. Copy of my US citizenship, and my passport. Affidavit of support, spouse affidavit of support, a written statement that explains why I didn't file taxes for the past few years with my signature, must submit the original!!!! Also there's this new DS form that everyone has to fill out and submit. It's called DS-5535 if anyone doesn't turn it in they ask them to fill it out and bring it back. So it's better to take it with you on the first interview.

They asked him questions like when did I become a US citizen? ( this is very important to know), they asked about his birthdate, our marriage date. He said the counselor was nice, spoke Arabic, so a translator was not needed! But I know they have another counselor that doesn't speak much Arabic and he always has a translator next to him.

i think this was it, if I remember anything else I'll let u guys know.

thats a really good question, I assumed they wanted djbouti one since the yemani one was not required since it wasnt obtainable according to NVC...so he ended up getting one from Djibouti court. but it was too late by then, so he gave it to the guard, they said they will contact him and i noticed his status was updated afterword,.

I've been us citizen for a very long time so I didn't think it was something they would ask. But he knew the date anyway! Alhamdullah! His police record is from Yemen, he got it before he left Yemen almost 2 months ago. He arrived to Djibouti 3 weeks before his interview and he did the exam right away so they have enough time to send it to the embassy. So many peopl were being returned because their exam wasn't at thr embassy before their interview day. We didn't want to be told that! So alhamdullah for everything!!

Has he done his medical exam? I showed up in Djibouti with my case not even being ready at the nvc. I showed up, and a month later, they transferred my case here, then I emailed them requesting an appointment and they gave me one a week away. I had my interview on Aug 2nd and right now just waiting.
