You will get the document the same day. YOU also have to be sure and have all the documents you need to get married in that time frame. It will be pushing it, but it can be done. Do you know if you are going to have civil wedding or a church wedding?

Opo, I am married na to my beautiful asawa, we have been married 4 years na and together 7. What is the overall mission of you getting married in Pinas, are you wanting to eventually come to USA or stay there?

Hindi po, we looked in to it and decided against it. I did not and will not convert to being Catholic so that was out of the question. Also we looked at the time frame in order to get a visa to live in the USA from the Philippines. It is about 4-6 months na for a K1 fiance visa, and roughly 9-12 months for a CR-1 married visa. So we choose the fiance route and it took 6 months until approval, and another month after that until she came to the USA.

Where in California is your fiance if you don't mind me asking, because I live in California as well? California in general is usually very easy for Pinoys because there is a large population here already. So missing home is not as bad as it sometimes is because you can go to a Filipino store and get the necessities or the goodies that you crave.

Also what's great is that a number of the cable/satellite subscribers have the TFC/GMA package which I got for my wife and she loves it, plus TFC has English subtitles so your asawa can get into to the program as well. My favorite program na on TFC is FPJ. My tv does get off TFC until after 8:30pm due to my wife watching it.

Not to rain on the party, but getting married to a US Citizen does not make it easy to go to the USA.  As cyberfx1024 already pointed it you have the choice between the K-1 Visa (fiance) or the Cr-1 visa (already married), neither of which are easy. Good luck!

As others stated, I got my letter the same day.

The local paperwork took some work.  We had to do a marriage application and wait a week after approval before we could get married.   You may want to research this to see if it's the same in your locality.  My wife did most of this so I can't give many details.  She's a smart cookie. ^_^

They kept making errors on our marriage certificate so double and triple check yours!  Afterwards, it takes a while to change your name since local has to submit it to the NSO before you're able to do so.  Then you must request a new passport before submitting anything to USCIS.

CR1 will have probably taken us a year to get and we were lucky with the petition getting approved so quickly.  Saying that, if we had to do it again then we would probably choose CR1 again.  It was a great experience to see how processes work in PH and meet her family.  Plus I really like siaopao. :D

Good luck!  Both of you will have to do a lot of work to make it happen.
