Does anybody know how long it takes the IRS to send the transcripts overseas? It's been a few weeks. Worried they sent it by junk ship. :o

i have an online account with IRS, i can get my transcript as many as i want i just download them and print it out.

It sounds like you are living in America. At least in China you are unable to download due to IP.

Only option was to have them mail it to me.

Mail in China requires Chinese characters, otherwise, it may not make it.

Copies of your tax returns work just as well. If you have them, don't wait.

Thank you for your feedback. Actually I get all my email from IRS and other mail fromAmerica using English address without problem. Maybe that's because I'm in Shanghai. I'm guessing smaller cities it would be a problem. Having said that they do write on the envelopes so maybe it gets delayed longer when addresses are in English. Unfortunately there was no way to convert to Chinese from IRS website.

Im glad to know tax returns are okay as well. Did they look hard at the affidavit of support from your experience? Thank you for your help.

They don't always get the Chinese characters right, since there are usually several to choose from. But yes, as long as someone is available to translate to Chinese characters for you, it WILL get delivered, whether your city is small or large.

Notice that TWO of the provinces - Shanxi ( 山西 ) and Shaanxi ( 陕西 ) - have the EXACT same pinyin representation (Shanxi). They simply added an extra 'A' to one of them to avoid confusion.

I am frustrated with tax transcripts too.  I live in the US, but I wasn't able to create an account with the IRS.  They require a ton of authentication to create an account.  I didn't have any concerns about the authentication because I've always been a happy, helpful, law-abiding citizen.  All of the authentication steps went well until I entered my phone number and the IRS said they couldn't authenticate it.  I think it's because the person who had my phone number before has continued to use it for all sorts of things, like signing up for loans and credit cards and not paying them.    I have had this phone number for two years and I STILL get phone calls about her loans at least a few times a month.  I want to switch my number, but not while we're in the middle of the visa process.  Anyway, since my phone confirmation failed, the IRS said they would send me a code I can use to log in.  I've been waiting for days and still haven't received it.  They did say there is a phone number you can call if you don't receive something they sent.  You might be able to use the same number to inquire about the transcripts: 888-841-4648.

This is perfect. My cell phone is registered under my nickname so I'm guessing will have similar problems. Unfortunately I can't even do that until I come back to the U.S. Will give them a call as well. Hope you can get your transcripts soon.
