Hello, i have a very simple question regarding status change to: Inline for Interview for N400

Is this means the USCIS examiner finished examining the package sent for N400, and the Background check is complete as well and now just waiting for a date for an interview? or this means JUST the Background check is complete and should probably wait another 2 to 3 months until they finish examining the package and schedule an interview?

oh, should i receive a letter saying status changed to inline for interview?

am asking just to see how long probably its going to take from the change of this status to have an interview

Thanks for clarification about this status change

I'm not sure whether it means they are completely finished everything, but it DOES mean you are passed the biometrics stage.  My status changed to "in line for interview" just a few days after my biometrics was completed and stayed that way until they scheduled the interview, which was about 2 months later.  Then, the status changed to "an interview has been scheduled..etc...you will be receiving a letter in the mail".  A few days later, I received the letter with the interview date, which was about 4 weeks out.

It means they officially placed your case in the interview queue. They don't do that until 1) your background checks have cleared; and 2) (if you are an early filer) there is 1 month to your 5th (or 3rd) GC anniversary.

From that point on the rest of the waiting purely depends on the 1) backlog of your field office and 2) your priority date. It may take from a few days to several months to schedule your interview depending on these two factors.
