I was reading about the average processing days for ROC on the USCIS website. It says for the current year it is 316 days. I will be surprised if i ever get approved before Decemeber-2017.

Yes. You get it in the first week or 2 after you sent your package.

Actually, it's not an actual card, just a letter that states your card is extended for a year. So for travel, you need both your expired card AND that letter.

  • 2 weeks later...

Has anyone travelled with their extension letter and expired green card yet?  My greencard expired yesterday and the thought of not being able to go down to Mexico as easily as I have enjoyed the last two years before we move to DC is troubling me.

Also, what is the procedure when you move interstate?  We are planning on moving from San Diego to DC (or Maryland/Virginia) in the next couple of months, how do I update my info with USCIS and NOT screw up my removal of conditions?

I am not planning to travel with my extension letter so I can't help you with that.
If you move you can fill out this form: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

I came back yesterday from Europe with the expired green card and the extension letter.. had no issues what so ever. the only thing the TSA guy asked me was how long I already wait for the removal of conditions.
