No. Even if she comes, she can't go with you to the desk, she'd have to sit in the waiting area.

Not necessarily true for every location.  I was with my spouse the entire time, including standing centimeters away while the fingerprinting was done.

I didn't know that! In Portland, only the applicant could go to the desk (at least the day I was there)! Either way, for the OP, the spouse certainly doesn't have to come with. It won't make a difference one way or the other.
