My green card expires today and now I'm all paranoid  I guess we have to carry around that extension letter all the time. I'm afraid most people don't know what that is and won't accept it as enough proof given the expired GC.

I do have a valid state ID that expires until 2023.

How can I get one of those stamps in your passport? I can't remember the name... Hoping that helps.

Don't be paranoid, you'll be fine. How often do you have to prove your immigration status? The letter is the way the system works, the only inconvenience is that you might have a little more explaining to do depending on who you encounter because not everyone knows what it is. The only possibly tricky situation is international travel, I think. Given the current climate, you never know and you might want to avoid that if at all possible (though that's not to say you can't do it - people absolutely CAN and DO travel overseas successfully with the letter all the time).

I don't think they're going to give you a passport stamp without a valid reason while you have an extension letter. That's an option if/when a year from now your case is still pending and the one year extension from the letter expires.

I signed a contract for a new job on the 28th but they didn't take any of my documents until I start on April 10th and by then my green card is expired, so I'm not sure what's going to happen. I hope that extension letter is enough.

Most companies use eVerify, so you won't even need to show that letter.

true, i never showed them my GC, only gave them my SSN and DL. I'm pretty sure my employer wont ask me for any new documentation when my GC expires in 2 mo.

No need to be concerned. My package was delivered on Thursday (3/23). They cashed the check a week later. I don't know when they delivered yours maybe a few days later?? So I guess they will do it sometime soon.
