There isn’t a specific number. You have to have a tier 1 officer transfer you. I’ve been denied a transfer before, just make sure your issue sounds like something a tier 1 officer can’t solve (which is basically anything that you can’t see on your case status site)

Do you have any tips on how to have them transfer you over to a tier 2?

Try saying that you spoke to a Tier 2 officer but you got disconnected. :-)

If that doesn't work, tell them that you would like to inquire with your local office on the status of the case and ask them to connect to Tier 2 to see if they can send a note. When I wanted to inquire about not receiving an interview notice, I said I'm worried that is is taking so long so I would like to speak to an officer to see where the case is at. They connected me right away and the Tier 2 officer sent a note to my local office to give me an update (which usually comes within 2 weeks -- more towards the end of the 2nd week).

See if this helps.

Just a note on this - typically when you're transferred to tier 2, you get put on a "list" and they calll you back when you leave your number and name. they'll give you an estimated time of when the tier 2 officer will call back (typically 1 - 2 hours). So you don't always get to talk to a tier 2 right away. You could say "i missed a call from the tier 2 officer and want to get put back on the waiting list" but i'm not sure if that works without an explanation.

I basically just explained my case and made it sound so complicated that they had to transfer me. You could just say it's been a month blahblah and the last USCIS officer said I should have heard by now.

Thanks Guys,

In my case I'm trying to I'm trying to enroll in-state to college. When I got my extension back in April my passport was a week from expiring and the Office refused to stamp my passport. I had to go to wallgreens to take a passport picture and what they gave me was literally a piece of paper with a stamp and my picture. Well, unfortunately no one knows what this paper means. Now I'm waiting the decision so I can finally enroll for next semester. That's I wanted to call to get an update.

Thanks

So,

I just got off the phone (after waiting 45 minutes for a callback) with what seemed to be a Tier 2 Agent. After explaining my case he said there was nothing he could do that I would have to go to the local office and ask for another stamp (this time on my passport). I said the officer that my extension was still valid that there was no need for another one. I asked if there's something he could do to get an update on my case and then he came up with this. Sir keep in mind that you still have to go to an interview. I said, is that what your system is showing, can you tell me then when the interview is going to be? He said, I never said that, I said that this process I-751 requires an interview but your case shows as pending because they haven't schedule it yet. WTH? Now I'm even more confuse. Anyways he agreed open a service request within CSC so I could get an update. He told me it could take up to 2 weeks, the other officer said 30 days.

Honestly sometimes it seems they don't have a clue about what they're saying.

What a ###### joke, we seriously know more about Uscis processes than the ####### that work as agents

What's is funny is that I asked him again. Does it shows that they will be scheduling and interview? Or that my case is pending?

He said that the all I-751 have to go through an interview. WHAT? That as of today my case was still pending that he would submit a Service Request for revision.

So, that's when I assumed that (ok let me hang out the phone, this gentlemen has no clue what he's saying).

So sad man.

Yea, no clue. If he opened up a service request, you should hear back in 2 weeks. And going to a local office would also be good (if you don't end up speaking to a clueless man again). One time I went and an officer from Naturalization helped me. He was even kind to explain the naturalization process and when I should file.

I'm sorry you had to experience this.. ugh

Just a quick update, mid March 2017 CSC filer, my case was approved July 23rd, received approval letter today 07/27 and my card was already mailed out and per USPS should be at my house 07/30 - 07/31. I am actually pleasantly surprised how fast everything went after the approval.

Congrats! Was case transferred out of California to any of the popular places (i.e. NSC, TSC, NBC)?

Nope, my case stayed in California the whole time.

Okay... Time to celebrate.

Weird how transferred cases are now slower than cases that remained in CA. I have a feeling they rotate back and forth between all centers.
