Credit Bureaus can't find me

Hi VJ!

I just wanted to ask if any of you new-US ppl have had the same problems. The only credit bureau that can find me is Experian. Equifax and Transunion can't. My credits have been reporting for 4 months now. I'm aware that I can't get an actual score until 6 months have passed, but why can't I get a credit report at all from them?

Also, on the one credit report that I can get from Experian, there is a notice that the issuance date of my social security number hasn't been verified by the SSA. I did some digging and that seems to be due to the SSN randomization that started after June 25th 2011 https://www.ssa.gov/employer/randomization.html. WHich is good and all for safety but how will this affect my future credit applications/loans/credit score and so on.

I'd like to hear of similar experiences, how you solved these things and all and any other tips on the subject. I'm extremely frustrated after spending hours on the phone with not so helpful customer service reps.

Not all cards/banks report to all three bureaus.  That means that your credit report can look different depending on which bureau your card/bank uses.

Time will heal this - but it will take time.

Thank you... that's not the problem either though... Bank of America and Capital One both ensure me they report primary and authorized users to all three bureaus.

I'm running into the same kind of issue.

I was advised it was bc my SSN is still in my maiden name.  The SSA office here wouldn't change it with the marriage certificate bc my i94 was expired and I didn't have my EAD yet.

Not true on the BoA front. I'm a joint user on my husband's credit card (which I thought wouldn't report at all to any of the credit bureaus when I was doing checks so was going to change it), and it only gets reported to TransUnion, whereas Equifax doesn't even show up that I have a credit card. It may be down to the type of user that I am, but it's odd that TransUnion recognises it.

It took a while for anything to show up for me too. Kept trying to register with Credit Karma and for the longest time it said I didn't exist when I would put my SSN in. Maybe give it a little longer before chasing up why nothing has been reported.

They seem to all have different answers.... So I'm at least a bit relieved that it's "not just me". I have put in for the SSN name change... I just got off the phone with Experian and Equifax... Experian said that they wanted me to upload my ID documents, SSC and a bill , or something that shows my name at this address. Equifax wanted me to fax it... So I guess I'll do that and see what happens...

Well I'm an authorized user on my husband's and both my own where I'm primary and the one where I'm authorized are found on the report by Experian. I think that you might just not have been found by the other ones just like me...

I've spoken to them on several occasions and they DO report to all 3. I'm absolutely SURE of that.

I think you might be right about it getting better with time though... It's frustrating.

I think it took about 2/3 months from when I took out my car loan with my husband to the account registering. I think it helped that my husband was co-signee for the loan for them to find me, perhaps?

I'll definitely look into whether the other credit bureau just isn't finding me. But it would be weird if that were the case because my finance loan with Santander comes up on both with Credit Karma. Which then would make the fact the card isn't being reported to Equifax just because they can't find me obsolete.

try this and see what happens for capital one- https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/benefits/creditwise/

Its sorta like credit karma but you can use your current cap one log in to sign into it... would be odd if you have a cap one account and then theres no info on creditwise. They (creditwise) might have a phone number you can call for help.

You can also try the site credit plus. I know for us they helped with the credit score/reporting by calling the card companies and getting updated info.

Also just FYI- heres a link for opting out of preapproved credit solicitations. By opting out its suppose to raise your score https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t

I have capital one and I'm the primary and creditwise basically says there is insufficient information to generate a score.

I guess a few more months of payments in order to generate a score and history.

Just another joy of immigration.  I had a near perfect credit score in Canada and was devastated to

learn Equifax and TransUnion in Canada don't convert to America.

Did you use American Express in Canada? If so, you can use Global Transfer.  After 2-3 months, my credit was good enough to buy an apartment.

Well not finding can mean not connecting the dots. They might find you for one credit but not connect the dots for the other. Can depend on if there is a SSN registered or not. If the SSN is used when requesting the credit/loan or not, variations of your name... living at different addresses etc...
