Hi,

I'm reading on some blogs and they state that some of the forms must be filled electronically and than printed. That's suppose to create a barcode?

Is that still true? Going on the USCIS website I only get the download option for the forms

Those won't.

Usually from what I am aware of it is when you fill in like a DS160 for interviews, when you print it after submitting it, it will have a bar code.

"Standard" forms like the I130 and such won't.

You have to download the forms then use Adobe to type your info. When you print out the filled documents, the bar code will appear. If you print out the same form (not filled/ blank), there wont be any bar code.

For future reference here is a list of the forms that currently have 2D barcodes https://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-updates/uscis-form-improvements-initiative.

Common forms G-1145, i-131, i-129f, N-400 and i-864 are on the list and forms like i-485 and i-130 are in the pipeline to get it soon.
